You may have noticed some extra construction happening at the school recently. A cantilever awning is being erected in front of the school in order to provide some shade during the hot months and cover from the rain for drop off and dismissal. We also had an awning built in the bus loop to provide the students with protection from the weather when loading and unloading the buses. These are items that were paid for out of the last bond and we are very excited to get these additions to our campus.
We appreciate everyone making the adjustment to starting our day at 7:50. While we hope that we don't have to cancel school due to weather, we now feel much more comfortable in knowing that we have extra minutes banked up to cover us. There has always been a 5 minute discrepancy between the elementary school and the other schools. By pushing the start time up 5 minutes, we now go the same number of minutes each day as the other schools. This will be something that we plan on doing going forward to provide more consistency throughout the district.
Bus Behavior
We have recently been hearing about deteriorating behavior on the bus from the bus drivers. Please remind your kids about proper bus behavior and that it can create a safety issue if they are out of their seats while the bus is moving. If the behavior is severe, or it becomes a pattern, it will be recommended that the student is removed from receiving bus service for a period of time.
Student Holidays
Students will be off next Friday, Feb. 16 and the following Monday, Feb. 19. I hope that everyone gets a chance to enjoy this 4 day weekend with their kids.
Soup-er Bowl
Thank you to our PTO for providing the staff with some great food for our luncheon. We always feel so appreciated and supported by our PTO and families. A special thanks goes out to Dixie Latham for organizing this for the staff.
