Principal Message
Dear Cooper Families,
Happy Holidays! This is such an exciting time for children with so many fun-filled school and community events taking place. The Burlington Christmas Parade is this Friday, Dec 2nd which seems to "kick-off" community festivities! Our PTO has organized "The Holiday Shoppe" again this year December 8th and 9th. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to "shop" for presents for family members. Parent volunteers are needed to help check out students and wrap gifts. If you are available, please complete the SIGNUP GENIUS.
Friday, December 2nd marks the end of our First Trimester. Students have worked very hard this first trimester practicing and mastering previous skills, have learned many new skills, and are making new friends! Grades will be completed by December 9th and report cards will be sent in the students TAKE HOME FOLDER on Friday, December 9th. If you have any questions regarding your child's report card, please contact your child's teacher who would be happy to help you.
I want to give a special “thank you” to our families and P.T.O for all the wonderful things you do for our staff and students! Thank you for organizing and preparing a wonderful meal for the staff during Parent-Teacher conferences, organizing the Kringle fundraiser, and helping with the School Store fundraiser! We are so fortunate at Cooper to have such supportive parents and families.
Sharing and caring is what this season is all about! Enjoy time with your family and friends as I wish you all Happy Holidays!
Regards,
Jackey Syens

Safety Drill- Thursday, December 1st
The next step in helping students to think about how to respond in any emergency situation is to practice the run, hide, and fight scenarios that they have discussed as a class.
On Thursday, December 1, students will practice the “run” scenario which includes safely evacuating the building and walking to the evacuation site. We estimate that the drill will take approximately 30 minutes. We plan to keep the drill simple so we can practice everyone’s role in a crisis situation.
Your child may have questions about the drill or may want to discuss how to respond if an emergency took place at home. If you have any questions about the drill or concerns about your child’s participation, please contact your child’s principal.
Holiday Shop- Sponsored by the PTO
Thursday, December 8th and Friday, December, 9Th, the Cooper PTO will host the Holiday Shop.
This is an opportunity for your child to shop for their families. We have many $1.00 to $7.00 items for your child to choose from. We have goodies from many local suppliers and independent consultants. The shop will have items for girls and boys, moms and dads and even grandparents.
Your student will shop with their classroom during the school day on one of the two days. Please send money, in the form of cash or check made payable to Cooper PTO, with your child along with a list of immediate family members they are shopping for on that day. We also ask to keep the shopping list to no more than 10 people.
In order to be able to make this Holliday Shop a success, we need volunteers. We need VOLUNTEERS TO HELP. Please sign up if you have some time~

Preschool Screenings
Burlington Area School District Preschool Screenings 2022-2023
Do you have concerns about your child’s development? Preschool screenings for the 2022-2023 school year will be held throughout the Burlington Area School District for any child between the ages of birth to 5 years old who is not attending 5 year old kindergarten.
If you are a parent/guardian of a child within this age range and are concerned about his/her development, you are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming screenings. The next screening is being held on December 7, 2022, at the Burlington Public Library. Please see the flyer for additional information.
Chromebooks Home on Fridays-
Student Chromebooks will be sent home every Friday starting on November 4th. Our expectation is that each child complete the following: 30 Minutes of i-Ready reading and 30 minutes of i-Ready math. Students can also earn points to play some fun learning games, if they have completed the lessons.
When your child completes i-Ready lessons, they are completing activities and games at their level. Students have been assessed in September and now have learning plans to match their skill level. Parents will not need to assist during the lessons. After 30 minutes of both math and reading, students will most likely will not need to complete any other work on their computer. Teachers will be able to see your child's progress on completion of i-Ready lessons. Students will need to earn at least a 75% on each lesson or your child will have to complete a similar lesson again.
Please remember to have students charge their Chromebooks on Sunday and bring them back on Monday. Students use their Chromebooks every day at school.
