Student IDs

We have introduced temporary IDs this semester. Each student can receive up to 4 temporary ID stickers in the mornings at no cost over the course of the rest of the school year. Once students have used up their 4 temporary IDs they will have to purchase a replacement permanent ID for $5. The $5 fee is the same as what has been in place. You will receive an email any time your student is issued a temporary ID letting you know how many they have used. We hope this helps provide some grace on those mornings when a student accidentally comes to school without their ID.

Safety Matters

  • Safety is a priority at Lake Ridge and in the event of an emergency, we want all staff and students prepared.
  • Students must wear their current ID, on a lanyard around their neck or attached by a clip, at ALL times while on campus. Replacement ID cards are $5. We will make announcements this week regarding IDs and campus safety. Students who are not wearing their ID are subject to a disciplinary consequence. Help us keep our campus safe by encouraging your student to wear their ID.
  • Please check your student's Skyward account and pay any outstanding fines.

Student Conductor Tardy System

It is very important that students get to school on time so that they are in class at 7:25 a.m. Being on time is great for a child's education and is a major life-ready skill.

That is why Lake Ridge High School is excited to launch a new automated system, Student Conductor, that will check tardy students in and get them to class quicker. A kiosk will be set up in central locations to expedite the process for late students.

Please note that the MISD Tardy Policy is not new. Student Conductor is just a way to make sure the policy is consistently enforced and tracked while keeping parents informed about any recorded student tardies. Parents will be automatically notified via email when their student is tardy beginning November 5.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may cause a student to be tardy; but we want to prepare our students to be successful in college, career and life, and punctuality is extremely important so that students do not miss valuable content in class.

Attendance Policy

Attendance plays a vital role in a student's academic success. When students are absent, not only do they miss out on direct instruction, but they also have assignments that begin to pile up. Sometimes being absent is unavoidable, especially if a student is ill or has a doctor's order to stay home. Apart from those special situations, please make sure your student attends school every day.

In Texas, students are required to attend school no less than 90% of the time. When students pass the 10% mark for absences, EVEN excused with a doctor's note and partial absences, they are subject to loss of credit. Loss of credit means that they will not be given credit for courses.

We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable, but if a student is in any way able to come to school, it is important that they attend.

Construction Begins on New Athletic Multipurpose Building

Parents and Students, please be aware that construction will soon begin on the Lake Ridge Multipurpose Athletic Complex. Student drop off and pick up will not be impacted by the construction. Construction traffic will primarily take place during the school day when we have the least amount of movement on our lots. The project is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2019. Please review the map for specific details.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

We have introduced traffic cones at the entry to LRHS from Day Miar Rd. that allows both directions to enter the LRHS main drive. This makes the back up on Day Miar Rd. less congested and allows vehicles to enter our school more efficiently while allowing vehicles to exit faster as well.

As you approach the school structure (Performing Arts building) we would like parents to veer left or right to use the curbside lanes of the traffic circle for drop off. The middle lane should only be used to leave after your student has exited your vehicle.

One other important detail is please have your student exit where you stop in the line (either curbside) rather than waiting to exit the vehicle at the main crosswalk. Your student can exit and walk on the sidewalk or to the crosswalk while you leave the drive through the center lane. This will keep the traffic moving.

Thank you for your cooperation with this morning drop off procedure.
