Dr. Penny Pruitt is honored to serve as the principal at Highlands High School. She looks forward to continuing to guide the campus in the upward trend of academic growth that began before COVID. She believes that increasing opportunities for all students to access rigorous courses, maintaining an instruction-driven focus on the campus, and preparing students for post-secondary life is the key to success. To achieve this, Dr. Pruitt believes building relationships with students and their families is essential.

Highlands High School Varsity Boys Game Schedule

Beginning this week, counselors will meet with students to select their courses for the next school year (2023-2024) from January 30- February 17.

Counselors will visit the following classes.

• 9th- World Geography
• 10th- World History
• 11th: English III

1. It is when you can make up the missed hours for being absent. 1 Absence = 1 Hour of seat time.

2. Seat time can be made up during the following timed

• Twilight School- TSI Testing lab begins at 4:30 pm and ends at 6:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
• Before or after Afterschool Tutoring (See your teacher's tutoring schedule)
• Lunch (ask your teacher if they will allow you to come in during lunch. Just a friendly reminder that teachers are not required to do so)
• Saturday School- February 4

3. You must have work assignments to do at seat time.

4. Please get your missed assignments from your teacher(s).

5. Any time you stay is counted ( ex., 1 hour, 1/2 hour.)

6. You can build up your hours. Use the seat time log.

Middle and High School Campuses:
• A shirt with the fabric touching the waistband in the front, back, and sides under the arms.
• Pants/jeans or the equivalent (skirt, sweatpants, leggings, a dress, shorts) free of rips that expose skin above fingertip length or undergarments. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must be fingertip length.
• Shoes.

All campuses:
The district prohibits pictures, emblems or writing on clothing that:
• Are lewd, offensive, vulgar or obscene
• Advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other substance prohibited under board policy FNCF (LEGAL)
• Depict gang-related attire
Appropriate footwear must be worn. Prohibited footwear includes:
• Footwear with toes reinforced with steel, hard plastics, or similar materials.
• Flipflops, beach sandals, or other open-toed shoes that do not have straps to secure them.

Backpacks
Students may bring a backpack of any color or type as long as it does not display lewd, offensive, vulgar or obscene language or images. The backpack cannot display language or images of tobacco products, alcohol, drugs, or any other prohibited substance under board policy FNCF (LEGAL), or any language or image that is gang-related.

Parents and Guardians, on January 18th, we held a senior assembly. Students have been informed of the importance of completing graduation requirements. Click on the senior presentation to know the information distributed to your senior.

Highlands High School 2023 Graduation Ceremony is fast approaching. Make sure that your child is on campus during the following dates.

Graduation Rehearsals (seniors only)

Highlands High School will hold the Class of 2023 on Monday, June 5, @ 8 pm Alamo Stadium.
