Dear McAllister Elementary School Parents and Guardians,

It is with great excitement that I write this letter as the new principal of McAllister Elementary. It is an honor to have the opportunity to continue being a part of this amazing school and community.

I am beyond ready to have the opportunity to engage with students once again. Their energy and love for learning is truly un-matched and is what motivates us as educators on a daily basis.

My mission is to continue to create and maintain an environment that is safe, welcoming, and encourages continual academic, social and personal growth for all McAllister Elementary School students. With this mission, our relationships with students and families are crucial. We know that strong relationships between families and educators improve students’ success both inside and outside of the classroom. I believe open communication is vital to success of a school, so my door will always be open. I will be here to help with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year. As partners, our students will continue to succeed!

The message above is a true statement! We miss our students at MES and we are looking forward to re-connecting with everyone either in person or virtually on Monday, August 17th.

As you read from Dr. Brooksher, Bryan County has released our re-opening plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Our students will be starting back on Monday, August 17th. This will allow you time to register your child(ren) for e-Learning if you feel that option is the best fit for your family. The e-Learning registration link as well as the guidelines for the e-Learning option are shared below. Registration is currently open and will close on Thursday, July 23rd.

For all families that choose to send their child(ren) back to McAllister in person, safety will continue to be our number one priority. We will be following the face to face guidelines shared by the district as well as working as a team to develop and implement specific plans at MES to ensure the safety of our staff and for all of our little Wildcats!

Face to Face Guidelines

As shared in June, all Open Houses will follow a different format for the 2020-2021 school year. Our plan for MES is shared below. We are excited to have the opportunity to connect with everyone virtually soon!

This year we will host our first ever Pre-K and Kindergarten Camp. Our hope is to get our youngest Wildcats familiar with the building prior to the first day of school. Please click here to RSVP by Monday, August 10th.

We have been anxiously awaiting the day that we FINALLY get to reunite with our students! Monday, August 17th will be a day that we will not soon forget! Due to current circumstances, our first day of school drop off will mirror that of a typical school day. All students will need to be dropped off by a bus, through one of the two car lines, or walk (Only if you live in Buckhead East). We will have staff spread out through the building to ensure each student gets safely to their classroom. If you have a student in pre-k through first grade, we will be sending home labels prior to the first day that have your child's name, homeroom teacher, and mode of afternoon transportation. Please ensure that this tag is on your child's shirt prior to dropping them off.

A video tour of the school will be sent directly to parents prior to the first day of school. We are hoping this will help you and your child get acquainted with the building prior to the 17th. Your child's teacher will also give specific directions on how to get to his/her classroom during your "Meet the Teacher" session.

Should the need arise at any point during the 2020-2021 school year to go to an E-learning platform, we would like to have a firm understanding of which students would require a device so that we could be prepared for quick pick-up. If you feel your child would be in need of a school Chromebook if we needed to move to E-learning at any point in the school year, please complete the form below. • School hours are 7:40-2:40. Students can be dropped off in car line starting at 7:05. Students should be dropped off no later than 7:35 so they are able to be in their classrooms and ready to learn by 7:40.

• Breakfast is $1.85, Lunch is $2.85

• Any changes in a student's afternoon dismissal will need to be documented by a signed note sent to your child's teacher.

• A map of morning and afternoon car routes will be shared closer to the first day of school.
