Not All Superheroes Wear Capes: A Tribute to Los Altos School District Staff
Under normal circumstances, our Los Altos School District teachers, staff and administrators go above and beyond to provide the best education possible for the children in our community. They are quite simply, our superheroes! This year, their efforts have been beyond extraordinary.
During this staff appreciation week, we encourage all of our families to acknowledge the hard work of each and every one of our LASD staff members. They have truly risen to the enormous challenge to provide an excellent education for all our students during this global pandemic.
Without our staff, this amazing school year could not have been a success. Here are just a few examples of how our LASD team of teachers, staff and administrators have gone above and beyond. They have:
Delivered student lunches to parks and homes
Welcomed all students back to in-person learning safely
Revised and re-revised their instructional plans for online, hybrid and in-person learning
Created learning plans so all students received a consistently excellent education
Adhered to changing health and safety guidelines
Helped all students adhere to the same health and safety guidelines
Kept our schools and classrooms safe, clean and disinfected for all
Reenvisioned our libraries to support literacy and library access in distance learning
Harnessed the power of Google Meet to provide top-quality online instruction and continue to build community in distance learning
Modified and created STEM builds and projects for distance and hybrid learning
Living Classroom online lessons kept students learning about nature and science
Provided music and PE virtually, keeping our students engaged and active
Kept our beautiful school gardens up and running for all to enjoy when they returned to campus
Modified or created new art lessons for online learning to spark students’ creativity and imagination
...and so much more.
This week, please join us in thanking the teachers, principal and critical school site staff at your child’s school for all they have done to make this year of learning possible.
COVID-19 in India
Our hearts break with ongoing news of the dire COVID-19 situation in India. Many of our LASD community members have family members and friends in India who have been seriously impacted by this terrible crisis.
We extend our sincere condolences and support to all of those affected. Specifically, we want to offer help as a school district to those struggling with fear and loss from the ongoing pandemic in India, other places in the world, or even here at home.
Your child’s school psychologist is always available to offer mental health support. Please reach out to your school secretary at the below phone number for assistance and to schedule an appointment with your school psychologist.
