“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” --Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear KDM Family,
The students had a great week at school. Some of this week's highlights include the third graders who ran for president (they all have my vote), and the second graders who are learning geography through song. Creativity and ingenuity can be found in abundance at KDM!
Please be mindful that in observance of Martin Luther King Day on Monday, school will be closed for students while staff will have an in-service day. All students will be taking the iReady Math Diagnostic on January 16th through the 22nd. Please ensure your students rest up and have a healthy breakfast!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.

Interim Principal

Notes from Your Teachers
- "Hi all! Now that we have been back in school for a full week, we are reminding our students to wear the proper footwear so they are able to safely participate in physical education class. Our students are expected to wear sneakers on their physical education days. Elevated shoes, sneakers with heels or wheels, sandals, boots (snow and rain), and crocs are not safe for running, therefore they are not permitted. We appreciate your support in this matter! 😀" --Miss Molloy and Mr. Taboadela
- "Mrs. Ruzicka and Mrs. Imhof's class had the best time celebrating the 80s day for the 80th day of school!" --Ms. Imhof & Ms. Ruzicka
- "The second grade students have been working hard in Social Studies learning about Geography, One way they have learned the seven continents is through this fun song. The students enjoy learning while singing!" -Ms. Lasnick
- Mrs. Beck uses singing about learning as a component of warming up during morning meeting.
- "Third grade is currently learning about the federal government. Students ran for class president and vice president by giving their speeches and shared their campaign slogans with the class to gain votes. The class participated in a real-world like voting experience casting their ballot online and even received a sticker saying, 'I voted!' Excellent job to all those that participated and best of luck!" -- Ms. Briggs, Ms. McOmish, and Ms. Reilly
