3rd Grade Teacher's Corner
Third grade students learn about realistic fiction, fractions, and the Ice Age
"Carrot the Parrot", "Lost and Found Guinea Pigs", and "Treasure on the Run" are some of the titles of the realistic fiction stories that were completed by the third graders. Students included characters with believable human characteristics, a realistic setting, events that could happen in real life, and included dialogue.
In math, students have been building their understanding about fractions. From fractions that describe equal parts of a whole to representing fractions greater than one by using lots of visual models!
In science, we are taking a trip thousands of years back in time to the last Ice Age. Students are discovering mammoths, saber-toothed cats, giant sloths, and much more as they consider the specific traits that help organisms survive in their environment.
