The Scholastic Book Fair opens Thursday at 7:30 am. The fair will be open Thursday and Friday this week as well as all of next week. Regular hours are from 7:30-3:30 with two exceptions; the fair will close at 12:00 on Wednesday, January 31st and 1:00 on Friday, February 2nd. Students are welcome to shop before school, throughout the school day, and/or after school. Families may shop with students after school. Payment may be made in the form of cash, checks (made out to MMSOA), debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and Scholastic eWallet. Please click here to access the eWallet. The 8th grade is going on a field trip to see a production of “The Tell-Tale Heart” and other stories by Edgar Allan Poe at Charleston Southern on Monday, March 11. The cost is $30 and is due by Jan 31. The permission form can be found below.

Attention 8th Grade Parents/Guardians:

The 8th Grade Dance will be held on Friday, May 17th from 7:00 - 9:00pm. This year the MMSOA Student Council is sponsoring the dance. Our officers and homeroom representatives are currently in the process of planning the event and we could use your help. A letter went home with students this week that listed specific areas we could use assistance with. ( 8th Grade Parent Letter) If you are interested in helping, please send Mrs. Clark an email at clarkn@bcsdschools.net or complete the form and have your child return it to Mrs. Clark.

The BCSD All-county Honors Chorus event is this weekend. All information can be found in your student’s chorus schoology classroom. All are invited to the concert at Cane Bay High School Saturday, Feb. 3 at 3:00 PM. Admission is free.

THEATRE DEPT. Important Date change for 8th Grade Play, Romeo and Juliet.

The 8th grade play , originally scheduled for 2/1/24 has been rescheduled to 2/8/24 at 7pm. On 2/1 there will instead be an invited dress rehearsal that is open to theatre majors and their families, after school from 3:00-5:00. Please be on the lookout for a letter being sent home with students today. Theatre major students are required to attend the 8th grade show, however students that are unable to attend the performance on 2/8 may instead attend the 2/1 dress rehearsal.

8th Grade Theatre Major Parents/ Guardians: We would like to have a dinner for the 8th grade theatre majors at 5:30 before their performance on 2/8. Please contact Mrs. Catangay (catangaya@bcsdschool.net) if you are able to volunteer to serve, donate food or supplies, set up/ clean-up, etc. Thank you!

8th grade parents and guardians,

8th grade ads are almost ready to close out. If you are planning to submit an ad for your graduating 8th grader, you have to submit by February 8th. If you do not submit by Feb. 8th, you will not have the opportunity to do so. Late submissions will not be allowed this year. Please order and submit your ads by February 8th!
