Town Center Parent Newsletter

I wanted to send out a big thank you to all of our families! We had pick up cards in almost all of our car loop vehicles, and it made such a difference. Thank you all for working with us to make that as seamless as possible.

Today each child will come home with a copy of our 2019-2020 School-Parent Compact. As a Title 1 school, we collaborate with parents and staff each year to update our school compact. It is a great reminder of the partnership required between the school and home in order to fully support each of our kids. I have also included a link to the document below. Please take a moment to review it, sign, and return to your child's homeroom teacher by next Friday, November 1st.

CISD is currently surveying our families in order to gain insight into your perception of our schools and district effectiveness. This survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us, as we work to make our schools and our district the best that they can be. You may complete the survey online between now and Nov. 4, using a computer, tablet or smartphone. To take the survey, please visit https://surveys.panoramaed.com, then select your child(ren)’s school. If you have multiple children in CISD, we ask that you take the survey for each school your child attends.

CISD is hosting its final football Feeder Pattern night for CMS North at the Nov. 8 football game vs. Irving Nimitz. Students will receive free admission to a game on their designated night with purchase of parent/guardian adult ticket. We ask that parents attend the game with their elementary and middle school children. We look forward to welcoming CMS North, Cottonwood Creek, Denton Creek, Town Center and Wilson to Buddy Echols field that night.

While our fall round of parent conferences has wrapped up, I encourage any parents that have not had a chance to conference with their child's teacher to reach out and set up a time. Our teachers are also available for phone or in person conferences throughout the year, as needed. Don't ever hesitate to reach out. We love our partnership in your child's education!

Please plan to join us Monday, November 11th in the TCE Gym at 8:00 AM to help us honor our Town Center families and friends who are veterans. We'd like to extend the invitation to any veterans that are able to attend. It's a small way for us to say thank you. The program will be approximately thirty minutes, and we will have refreshments afterwards for our special guests and their families.

We are also putting together a digital photo display this year, so if possible, please send in a photo of your special veteran, even if they are not able to attend the ceremony. We will collect these through Thursday, November 7th.

Book Character Pumpkin Extravaganza

It is a BOOK CHARACTER pumpkin extravaganza. I want to see what you can do with a little paint, a little fabric, and other craft supplies to transform an ordinary pumpkin into your favorite book character! Maybe a little red paint to make Clifford? Maybe some yellow yarn to make Goldilocks? The pumpkins you create AT HOME will be on display in the library for all to enjoy.

Extravaganza Guidelines:

Only Book Characters will be accepted. (Which book did you use?)

NO CARVING ALLOWED! (That makes for one stinky library!)

Each pumpkin entry must be accompanied by an entry card that includes the student(s) name, teacher name, name of book character, and title of book. Click here for sample.

Important Dates:

Monday, Oct. 21st —Tuesday, October 29th: Bring your pumpkin creations to the library

Thursday, Oct. 31st - Participating families join us for a pumpkin celebration at 7:20 AM in the library.

*All pumpkins will need to go home by November 7th or they will be discarded.
