Hello families!

It was so nice to see our students after our long winter break. A few were a bit sleepy, but all of them were eager to learn and happy to be back. We will resume extended day tutoring next week. Club forms for the second semester will also come home next week. NWEA reports and report cards will come home Monday.

As we continue to experience the winter months, please see the attached Inclement Weather Information for MSD of Decatur Township, in order to be informed in the event of a cancellation or delay. If an eLearning day is synchronous, part of the day will include live instruction, with a couple of hours that are independent. All lessons and links will be on Canvas for each teacher.

K-9:30-11 and 12-1:00

1st - 8:30-11:00

2nd - 9:30-11 and 12-1:00

3rd - 9:30-11:00 and 12-1:00

4th - 9:30-11 and 12-1:00

5th -9- 10:30 and 12:30-2

6th - 8:30-11:00

Lunch and recess will be from 11:00 to 12:00 for all grade levels. Special education and English Language teachers will be available all day to support their students. Teachers will be available to answer questions from 8:00 to 8:30 and all times they are not teaching live, through 3:30.

Communities In Schools Site Coordinators are in all Decatur Township schools. At Stephen Decatur, Mrs. Tracy and Mrs. Morgan have the pleasure of serving you, our families and community. Some of the wraparound services they can assist with include:

We have window clings for sale. They are $3.00 each. You can send money with your child or pick one up by coming to the school. Thanks for your support.

The district has created a culture guide that highlights the key characteristics of an elite system. At our school, we have been teaching children the concept of E+R=O.

E= Events: We cannot control things that happen

R= Response: We can control our response to the event

O=Outcome: Having a proper response will get the desired outcome.

This concept is powerful for all of us. Daily, many things happen that are out of our control. We can lash out or we can pause, think, and then respond. Pausing for reflection allows us to get the outcome that we need and want.
