Their team score was high enough to qualify them for the state competition at Purdue University on Saturday, November 11th.

Gratitude Gazette
If you would like to share your gratitude for SMS folks, here are the groups that we're highlighting this week:
Monday, November 6th - social studies teachers
Tuesday, November 7th - related arts teachers
Wednesday, November 8th - elective teachers
Thursday, November 9th - special ed teachers
Friday, November 10th - aides
Recipients will receive their messages at the end of each day. This was a positive experience the past two years, so all SMS students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate.
End of Second Six Weeks and First Trimester
Report cards will be published in Harmony Family Access on Wednesday, November 15th.
Students' grades from the first six weeks and second six weeks of each course are averaged to create a trimester grade. It is labeled "Final" on their report card.
Eligibility for extracurricular activities is based on students' six week grades.
Eligibility for end-of-year medals is based on trimester grades. Medals are awarded by GPA, not by all As or by all As and Bs.
Fall Dance
The theme for the dance is Hollywood. Students who did not turn in their signed drug-free pledge during Red Ribbon Week will pay $5 to attend the dance.
Concessions will be available for purchase in the cafeteria.
In order to be eligible to attend the dance, students must be present at school the entire day, cannot earn any discipline on the day of the dance, and cannot have accumulated two or more demerits for aggressive or illegal behavior from August 9th through November 17th.
Chaperone signups will be posted in ParentSquare this week.
We will follow our typical drop off and pick up procedures:
Drop off - 8th graders at door #7; 6th and 7th graders at door #11
Pick up - Cars with an 8th grader at door #1; Cars with 6th/7th graders only at door #11
Robotics
Practices would be after school. Competitions are typically in the evenings or on the weekends.
If you are interested in being considered to coach the team, please call Mrs. Hammons at 812-752-8926.
