Message from our President
Community Families,
Although the weather doesn’t feel like it, we are just a few days away from Halloween and
CMCS’s Parade of Masks! But before we race ahead to November, I just want to reflect on
some of our accomplishments already this year:
- We had one of the most successful Pledge Drives, but we aren’t done yet. Please read below for complete information!
- Students/Teachers/Staff celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a lively and fun performance from Baila Baila, our first IN PERSON assembly in 2 years! Thank you to parents Kendra Garcia, Fabiola Bermudez, and Ana Medina for putting up decorations and providing a delicious food tasting for our students! What a great time!
- The CMCS store has been incredibly BUSY since the summer! While most families were enjoying a summer break, Deborah Wafer, Lynda Andrews, and Erica Richards worked over the summer to make sure we had CMCS spirit wear for our new families. The store also had an amazing pre-order sale of the new tie-dye CMCS apparel, designed by our very own Alex Cordero. If you’re as excited as I am to get your pre-order shirt, I have amazing news for you. Shirts will be delivered to students this week! Thank you everyone for your support and patience!
- Morning valet has been running smoothly thanks to our valet committee, headed by Emily Campbell. You make it possible for the rest of us to have an easy drop-off and easier start of the day. Thank you!
Can’t wait to see what we accomplish next month. Thank you COMMUNITY!
Sincerely,
Kate Harrington
CFF, President

CMCS's Annual Parade of Masks is almost here!
CMCS’s Halloween Festival, Parade of Masks, is back and it’s this FRIDAY, October 28th! Below is some general information about the event:
1. POM will take place on the upper yard after lunch. We are SOOOO excited to be able to invite spectators back to enjoy the event!! There will be an all-school parade at 12:30, then K-2nd graders will enjoy their time at the festival from 1:00 - 1:30, followed by 3-5th graders from 1:40 - 2:10 for their turn.
2. If you are joining us for the event (either as a volunteer or spectator) you MUST stay for the duration of the festival. The upper yard will be open for cars to park from 11:30 - 12:10. After that, NO cars will be permitted to move on the upper yard until 2:30. If you cannot stay for the whole time please sit this one out. This is non-negotiable, NO EXCEPTIONS. This is for the safety of our students, which is our #1 priority.
3. Unless you’ve heard differently from your teacher, students are being asked to come to school in their costumes to save time on changing, etc. Costumes must not restrict the ability to use the restroom without assistance, must not restrict learning, must not restrict the ability to eat lunch. And please remember that we don't allow any toy weapons of any sort or anything too gruesome, especially masks.
4. The Korean PTA is generously selling Bulgogi plates this year. For $15.00 you can purchase a plate that includes rice, side salad, and a lemonade. Lemonades are also for sale individually for $3.00. Sales are CASH ONLY and first come, first served.
5. When the event is over, SPECTATORS, please walk down to your child's classroom to sign them out. If your child normally rides the bus, please call the school in the morning and let them know that you will be attending POM and will be driving your child home. VOLUNTEERS, please tell your kids to go to the cafeteria and wait for the TA to escort them up to the upper yard to join you after buses leave so you’ll have time to help clean up.
6. We appreciate everyone helping to pitch in to clean up between 2:10 - 2:30. Whether it’s just for 5 minutes, bringing one handful of things down to storage…. If everyone did it, we will get the upper yard back in order quickly and easily. Remember, cars cannot move until 2:30 anyway.
7. Our exclusive CMCS Parade of Masks Trick-or-Treat bags are still on sale and we have quite a few left. Bags are $15.00 and come with a variety of snacks, and our students will use them to collect prizes from each of the booths. Purchase of the bags also include a raffle entry for our two AMAZING prizes - an annual family pass to Underwood Family Farms and TWO tickets to Disneyland (dates open ended). Our goal is for each child to get a bag, so please consider buying additional bags for students without the means. Each purchase of bag = another entry in the raffle, so the more you buy, the more chance to win. Visit the school store on FreshSchools (https://www.freshschools.com/app/products ) to make your purchase today. And remember, Parade of Masks is an important fundraiser, and all the proceeds go to funding our programs next school year.
We are so excited to see everyone and be back together on the upper yard!
