Parent Teacher Conferences
We look forward to having conversations with our students' families in just a few weeks. Our conversations will focus on your student's transition to their new classroom, academic and social emotional progress and our learning goals for the year. Please come to the meeting ready to share about your child's experience so far and some goals you may have for your student this year.
Please choose a date and time from the link below to schedule a 10 minute conference with your student's teacher. The teachers are listed ALPHABETICALLY, you will need to scroll down to find the teacher name you are looking for. Please double check that you are signing up for the correct teacher. A virtual option (zoom call or phone call) will be on November 2rd only, the other dates are in person. If you are scheduling conferences for more than one student, please allow time between them to get to the next classroom.
Notes from the Health Office
Please see the updated graphic below. WPS district policies are still in place for fevers and gastrointestinal illnesses (vomiting, diarrhea). Please use this as a guideline and if you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to your pediatrician or the health office at your child's school.
Cellular Phones/Electronic Devices
Per the Elementary School Handbook - Students may not use cellular phones, smart watches, or other electronic devices during the day. If students need to have one of the above devices for an out of school purpose, the device must be kept turned off and remain in the backpack. If a student is found to have an electronic device in his or her possession, outside of the backpack, it will be kept in the office until a parent is able to pick it up.
New Staff Spotlight
Each week will be introducing you to staff that are new to Fisher. This week's highlight is Mrs Winer.
I live in Walpole with my husband and kids Ben (Fisher Alumnus 2021) and Izzy (currently a 5th grader) and my 15 year old chihuahua, Stella (my favorite child). I'm a loud and proud hockey mom with the raspy voice to prove it. I started at Fisher in 2015 as PAC member and have been lurking around the hallways ever since! I'm finally official and it's everything I could've imagined. I am so honored to be a part of this incredibly kind, supportive, creative staff!
Absence Line Reminder
If your student will be absent or tardy for any reason, call 508-660-7234 and press 1 to leave a message, you do not need to speak to somebody in the main office. Please state the reason for the student(s) absence (illness, medical appointment, personal, or will be tardy). If we do not have a reason noted for the absence, you will receive an automated phone call and email. This is for student safety to ensure that all are accounted for.
Art News
Students in grades K-5 have spent the past week working hard on their Dot Day artworks in Mrs. Matos' art class. This was the first Dot Day project that students created and for the material, they used paint sticks. After making a mark on their paper (a single black dot), students were then challenged to not use black anywhere else on their work and to fill the entire paper. Any white that is left over, is white paint stick! You can see that some students chose to transform their dot into a realistic drawing, while other students chose to be more abstract with lines, shapes, and colors. Amazing work everyone!
The big message students discussed when creating these artworks was that when you're stuck, you can start getting yourself unstuck by making a mark. You never know what your first mark can lead to, because even the smallest mark can make a difference (in art and in life).

Ms Kelley’s class checking out books from the library for the first time this year.
Kindergarten did an amazing job with their dot day artwork in Mrs. Matos' art class. Students were asked to start with a single black dot on their paper and then they were asked to transform it into something beautiful. They used paint sticks to complete this amazing, colorful work. A few students were even selected for this month's Walpole Town Hall display. Congratulations to those students! Keep up the great work.
