Mr. Posick's Friday email

I wanted to let you know how impressed I've been with our students and staff as they have returned from Winter Break. They have come back eager to learn and focused on whatever task is in front of them. I mentioned this at the PTO meeting yesterday and while I was thinking back on the week, I kept coming up with examples of their learning and focus.

Students were reading and writing and working on projects and doing Math.

Staff had prepared lessons and activities that were engaging.

The Band and Choir and Art classes had students showcasing their talents.

Homework Club was active with work on projects and assignments.

In a word, it was impressive that our students and staff came back and got right back into the swing of learning!

The end of the semester is quickly approaching. Our final day of the first semester is Friday, January 17th. Please take a moment to check Skyward and the Skyward calendar with your student to check on their progress. Your student could also take you through Google Classroom to see what lies in store for culminating projects and assessments. January 17th is also a half day of school with a noon release with Monday, January 20th being a day off for students while our staff has professional development all day. Second semester begins on Tuesday, January 21st.

This is an optional field trip opportunity for any 5th-8th grade student.

The Waukesha County Business Alliance and Southeast Wisconsin School Districts are partnering with Kids Building Wisconsin and Milwaukee Tool for the “Kids Building Wisconsin Expo.” This Expo will bring 5th-8th grade students from Waukesha County together to learn and experience the world of construction and skilled trades with the goal to expose students to the potential careers and various opportunities within these fields. Local businesses will have hands-on learning and interactive displays for the students to be able to physically explore construction and trade industry careers. Permission slips are available from our Science teachers.

Who: This is an optional field trip open to any 5th-8th grader (limited to 50)

When: February 20th, buses will depart at 9:00 and return at 12:00

Where: Milwaukee Tool in Brookfield
