Spring Hill Independent School District is considering Kindergarten through Eighth graders for the Gifted and Talented program. Parents or anyone interested in the educational welfare of the student may refer for the program. Nomination packets are available in the Primary, Intermediate, or Junior High offices, as well as online.
Referrals for 1st-8th grades may be returned to the Primary (1st and 2nd grades), Intermediate (3rd-5th grades) and Junior High (6th-8th grades) offices by February 16, 2024.
Nominations for Kindergarten may be submitted to the Primary office by January 12, 2024. Kindergarten testing will begin in January 2024 and 1st-8th grades will test in March 2024.
This semester, students in Gifted and Talented classes have studied a variety of topics based on their grade level. Topics included simple machines and engineering skills, countries around the world, dinosaurs, sharks, inventors, blueprints, and prototypes, among others. The fifth grade class even had the opportunity to dissect a dogfish shark.
Information about the Spring Hill ISD gifted and talented program process can be found in the campus handbook. For information, parents may contact the gifted and talented coordinator, Janna Graham at 903-323-7708 or jgraham@shisd.net.
Mark your calendar! Spring Hill ISD will host a Programs of Study Showcase on Monday, January 22, at 7 p.m. at Spring Hill High School. This event will highlight Programs of Study and extracurricular activities available at Spring Hill High School. All students and parents are welcome to attend.
Prior to the Showcase, there will be an Eighth Grade Parent Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria. Both the meeting and the Programs of Study Showcase will help prepare students to make High School course plan selections.
We hope to see you there!
