From Dr. Ginni McDonald, RSD Superintendent
Hello RSD,
I hope you are looking forward to the cooler weather on the horizon. I am certainly looking forward to changing colors, what I call football weather, and those great pumpkin flavors in all things fall!
To start with Good things:
I have met some simply amazing students this week. You will see some of these students in the Hello RSD videos.
I attended a Workforce Cabinet meeting. To hear the direction Arkansas is headed for our future workforce and the different agencies working together for a common goal is really exciting for our students and for us as educators.
This week you received RSD’s Profile of a Graduate t-shirts and retractable ID badge reels. The intention is to provide you with a visual of our why and the RSD Mission:
The Russellville School District and the greater community will ensure the promise of the RSD Graduate.
The t-shirts have information displaying the results of the RSD committee that worked on the Profile of a Graduate last year. This K-12 committee included teachers, staff, business leaders, students, parents, and community members. After the distribution of shirts, there have been some comments regarding the usage of indefinite articles “a” or “an". The GREAT news is the feedback on the attributes of RSD's Profile of a Graduate is positive.
I do not want our RSD family to spend time on the ambiguous nature of the English Language. I prefer to not use “a” or “an”. The committee that worked on the Profile of a Graduate spent many hours and much thought on this product that represents RSD. Moving forward, we will transition to “THE” for our future communications so that the committee's work is honored and there will be no distraction from the worthy work our teachers and staff are doing to prepare graduates.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ginni McDonald, RSD Superintendent

Staff Shoutouts
Marcia Correia, London Elementary Principal
Marcia is the most caring principal. She always thinks about her staff and students. With a small staff, sometimes the extra things cause us to have to double and triple up with responsibilities. She is always willing to do go above and beyond so the staff doesn’t have to. Marcia searches for ways to help students be successful wherever they go. She started a positive behavior system in the cafeteria to give incentives for students to follow procedures. She has had a lot to learn since becoming a principal and has taken every challenge with courage and positivity. She inspires us all to be our best, and encourages us daily.

Tyler Threlkeld, RSD HVAC Tech
Tyler is one man covering 836 units A/C units for the District. Through out the summer and the first week of school Tyler came in early, worked late, showed up at midnight, and was on call 24 hours a day to make sure RSD schools had working A/C units.

Sarah Connerly, RIS Counselor
Since Day 1, I have witnessed Sarah's dedication to students. She has been a go-to person for many of the staff for concerns with students and their mental health care. She truly is an asset for RIS and the students are better with her by their side.
