Summer Resources
Stop the Summer Slide!
Welcome to the JC EMPOWER Summer Resource Smore!
Research shows the importance of students staying engaged during the summer months to prevent learning loss:
• Engaging in educational activities during the summer can reduce the "summer slide" effect, where students lose skills learned during the school year.
• Summer learning opportunities help students retain knowledge, maintain reading skills, and improve problem-solving abilities. • Students who participate in summer programs have higher test scores and improved academic performance compared to their non-participating peers.
• Summer activities help maintain a routine for students, making the transition back to school smoother.
• Involvement in summer programs fosters social-emotional development and builds confidence.
This Smore is packed with a wealth of resources, from academic support to summer camps, designed to support your child and help prevent learning loss. These resources can also help prepare your child for the upcoming school year, setting them up for success! Dive in and explore the exciting opportunities available to empower your child this summer.
