Parents,
December is a very busy month at Powdersville Elementary School. We hope this newsletter provides more detailed information regarding the many events taking place at PVES during the month. Please take a moment to read this newsletter carefully. Feel free to ask your child's teacher for additional information or clarification. #pvespride

December PTSO Events
- Friday, December 7th is PVES Spirit Day. Students are encouraged to wear their House t-shirts. We will also be selling Chic-Fil-A biscuits in the morning car line.
- December 11th and 12th will be our next Papa John's "Dollars for Dough" spirit nights. Purchase food from a local Papa John's establishment and simply send your receipt to school.
- Thursday, December 13th is December Skate Night at Roller Time Family Skate Center in Piedmont from 6-8 P.M. Admission is just $4.00.
Literacy Night: How the Grinch Stole Literacy Night
We are excited about our upcoming Literacy Night scheduled for Thursday, December 6th from 6:00-7:15 P.M. at PVES. Each PVES student in attendance receives a free book. Hear from PVES teachers and engage in fun activities with your child. Please complete and send in the RSVP form as soon as possible so we can get an accurate count.
Christmas Chorus Concert
Under the direction of Ms. Caitlin Epperson, we are proud to present our 4th and 5th grade Christmas Chorus Concert. The concert will be held on Monday, December 10th at 6:30 P.M. at the Powdersville High School auditorium. Doors will open at 5:45 P.M. and Chorus students should immediately report to the stage at that time.
Christmas Strings Concert
Under the direction of Mr. Brian Velasco, we are proud to present our 5th grade Christmas Strings Concert. The concert will be held on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30 P.M. at the Powdersville Elementary School multi-purpose room. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M. and Strings students should immediately report to the Strings room at that time.
3rd Grade Christmas Performances
3rd grade students are excited to perform their Christmas musical this year. With so many home rooms, we will have two concerts. Both concerts will be held in the Powdersville High School auditorium and both will begin at 6:30 P.M. Doors will open at 5:45 P.M. and third grade students should immediately report to the stage at that time. On Monday, December 17th students from the following home rooms will perform: Thompson, Barnett, Kallin, and Plowden (100 hallway). On Tuesday, December 18th students from the following home rooms will perform: Carey, Henderson, Ezell/Johnson, McGaha, and Williams (200 hallway). We look forward to supporting our students!
Class Christmas Parties and Last Day of School
Wednesday, December 19th is the last day of school before winter break. This is a half day for students with dismissal taking place at 11:00 A.M. Students return to school on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019. On December 19th, parents are welcome to attend our class parties. Class parties begin at 9:15 A.M. Due to safety precautions, we will not allow visitors to classrooms earlier than 9:15 A.M. Parents who plan to attend will sign in upon entering the building and can sign their child(ren) out from the classroom for early dismissal after the class party.
