Digital Citizenship Week 2017 (Oct 16-20)

This week we celebrate Digital Citizenship Week. Check out the video (below) to learn more. If you're not already following our Social Media accounts (Twitter and Facebook), this is a great time to start. We will be sharing out helpful hints and information all week that can help us prepare students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly online.

A Taste of Technology in the Elementary Classroom

We had such a great time with elementary teachers during our Taste of Technology events this week. Teachers had the opportunity to move between five different stations and get hands on experience with online tools and resources. Stations included:

Green screen video with iPad and Touchcast (app)
Nearpod - an interactive presentation and assessment tool
Chatterpix, Tellagami, and general iPad tips and tricks
Plickers, Padlet, and Playposit

Teachers also got an opportunity to learn about Gale, an online database, from our elementary librarians. They also had a chance to explore some of the Makerspace activities and talk about how they enhance what's happening in the classroom.

Teacher friends, remember that we're here to support you as you use technology with your students!

"Techy" Professional Development with Secondary Teachers

More than 440 secondary teachers attended one (or more!) of our Instructional Technology/Library sessions during the Secondary Professional Development Day. Topics include:

Canvas in the Classroom
OneNote/Class Notebook
Digital Tools for the Classroom
Using Office 365 with Students
Digging in to Databases

We hear there were some "cape" sightings at the OneNote class.

Diana Foster's 5th students learned how to create PowerPoint's within their Office 365 accounts. So excited that this students can create and access their work from home!
