Dear Smith Families,

As we all head off for a holiday break I want to thank you for your patience with the smoke and changing of the school schedule. Your child's safety and our staff safety is foremost on my mind. Last night's "Shopping in the Vineyards" was a delight. PTA did a wonderful job with decoration and hosting a great time! Please have a look at the upcoming calendar as we have a lot going on at Smith in the holiday season.

Science Odyssey-

" Science Odyssey is on February 28th, 2019. Registration is currently opened! This year we will be having two design contests. The T-shirt design as well as a poster design. All design entities are due by December 6th, 2018. For more information about the design contest rules or any other questions, please see either of the science teachers.

Traffic-

Traffic continues to be and will probably always be a concern around campus. Please make sure to not block crosswalks in front of the school or anywhere in town. Patience is always best when approaching the school zone and please remember we are all here to help keep your children safe!

PTA News

Melo’s Dine Out - Wednesday, November 28th

Mark your calendars! Join us at Melo’s Pizza and Pasta, 4433 First Street, from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm to help “raise the dough" for Smith PTA. Dine in or take out and Melo’s will will donate 20% of proceeds to Emma C. Smith Elementary PTA. Flyer must be presented at time of purchase and can be found in the office or on our PTA website and Facebook page.

Vine Holiday Movie - Saturday, December 2nd

Bring the family and join us for our Holiday Movie on Saturday, December 2nd. The holiday movie “Arthur Christmas", will be playing on the big screen at the Vine Theater. Tickets are $10.00 per person and are available online at http://bidpal.net/smithsvineholidaymovie. Doors to the theater open at 9:00 am and the movie starts at 10:00 am. The morning promises to be a ton of holiday fun for Smith families. Come early to visit with Santa!

December Gift Shop - December 3rd to December 7th

The December Gift Shop is coming to the Smith School library from December 3rd through December 7th. This is a great opportunity for kids to do some holiday shopping for family and friends in a fun and safe environment. Parent volunteers will be available to help kids shop for items ranging in price from $.25 to $12.00. We do need lots of volunteers to make this event a success. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kelly Cardinale at kellygrl21@att.net or go directly to the December Gift Shop Sign Up Genius.

Sunol Train of Lights - Thursday, December 6th

All aboard! Our Train of Lights will depart the Sunol Train Station, 6 Kilkare Road, at 7:00 pm for an hour-long round trip through Niles Canyon. Enjoy refreshments, music, and holiday cheer aboard decorated coaches and cars. Thank you to the families that purchased their tickets to the Sunol Train of Lights. This event is sold out!
