
Snapshot - Remote Learning Edition

Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are exceptionally proud of the resilience and flexibility that is being continually demonstrated by our students, adapting to a different style of learning. We will be sharing the achievements of our students each week, and will be celebrating those who put in exceptional effort or achieve particularly well with their remote learning.
Year 7 Head of Year Nominations and Lessons Stars

Year 7 Nominations
Mr Strumpher would like to say well done to Mariana, Jakub, Beatrice, Radu, and Maisy (7SI) for exceptional work in Geography. Also nominated for submitting outstanding work are Nikole K, Trafford M, Blanka S and Viktoria S (7CO).
Miss Hankins has nominated her DT group who have begun working on the subject of one point perspective. Miss Hankins is very impressed with their efforts so far and pictured below is work from Eva T, Danil V, Oliver D and Crystal M.
Ms Hallybone and her Drama group have been learning how to evaluate live theatre. This week they started watching a stage production of the Disney film Tangled. Below is what Ruby H thinks of the production so far.
Miss Arshad would like to say well done to Max, Ben, Gabriella, Kaitlyn, Ann-Maria, Gabija and Georgia for consistently producing high-quality work in English.
Miss Graziano has nominated the following students for fantastic effort and attitude in Spanish: Lottie, Oliwia, Dillon, Luba, Veronica, Miller and Jasmine (7TU). Also nominated are Sean, Lara, Kevin, Florence, Finn, Vadims and Aston (7TE).
Mrs Vaghadia has nominated her RSCS groups, a lot of the students have been producing excellent work, well done keep this up!
Miss Patrick would like to give a special mention to Ivan and Kinga in 7SW and Sean and Kevin in 7TE for their creative Gumboot dance codes in Music.
Miss Jenkins would like to nominate Kamran and Mateus for their increased engagement this week with music work. Their listening skills were particularly good. We have also been impressed with how all of the Year 7s have been remembering to use the musical language that we learnt last term.

Mrs Feeley has nominated Weronika (8CA) and Harry (8CO) for recreating the recipes demonstrated in their DT lesson this week. Also nominated are Rene, Julia, Aadi, Max B, Kacper and Kurtis (8CA) for excellent participation in the PE challenges this week and Gretil, Greta, Arina, Nana, Bailey, Lucy, Mary and Sandra (8TA) for great activity in PE this week.
Miss Hankins has nominated Benjamin C for an amazing homemade chocolate cake and Ava G for tuna pasta made following a lesson tutorial in Food Technology and Esosa, Ellouise and Toby L for their fantastic homemade pasties.
Mr Chatfield would like to say well done to Freddie (8TE) for fantastic effort in PE, Freddie has been working hard to score points for his tutor group and stay fit and healthy completing the Eiffel Tower Challenge in PE each day for a week!
Year 8 have been producing flash fiction this week with Mrs Brown in English, describing a scene using the gothic sublime. We had some beautiful responses, in particular Tyler S, Olivia C and Kacper L.

Year 8 have been learning about chord progressions, which is particularly challenging to learn at home. Miss Jenkins would like to celebrate Marian and Josh from 8TE for brilliant Bandlab pieces. Also, well done to Jojo who has taught himself to play Fur Elise on the keyboard, and sent in a recording.
Miss Patrick would like to commend the whole of 8CO as they just keep improving each week in Music – well done!
Mrs Rice has nominated her 8A1 English class for their wonderful creative gothic writing about sublime settings and the obscure this week. Mrs Rice has been really impressed with their creativity.

Miss Coulson would like to say well done to Lucy, Bailey and Nana in 8TA who have been incredibly active and positive in virtual form time conversations this week and Arina M for her excellent drawings for the award assembly.

Miss Lodge would like to nominate 9AZ for their hard work and focus when completing their English assessment this week. Special mentions for CJay and Alicia S for their exceptional work of a close analysis of the short story we have been studying. Also, to Dawa for his commitment to English as he spent some of his own time practising for the assessment.
Miss Patrick would like to congratulate Mason L and Rhema Z from 9TE who did a great job of finding major and minor triads this week in Music, also giving detailed answers in the end of lesson quiz.
Miss Jenkins was impressed with Nico C in 9CO for being so proactive in Music, asking questions in the lesson question channel.

Mrs Brown's English group have been analysing language in non-fiction texts. Well done to Olivia W and Kia S for great analytical work and focus on language techniques. A special mention to Joel J who did so well making great progress when he found the task challenging.

Year 10 English Literature are looking at building essays from poems they have been analysing. They have been working hard to develop difficult analytical skills and have struggled but shown amazing resilience when they find things tough. Mrs Brown has said she couldn't be more proud!

Students have been creating holiday brochures in Spanish with Miss Graziano who is super impressed with their efforts, pictured below are examples of work from Avantika, Tearlach and Holly L.

Mrs Vaghadia is very proud of Finley D for scoring an excellent mark on his end of topic Sociology test on families. He wrote an excellent response for an 8 mark question which was near enough full marks. Also nominated are Alicija and David S for showing dedication and commitment to their studies in Sociology doing excellent corrections on their end of topic test well done!

Mrs Gonzalez-Villamil Lean and her Year 10 group are currently working on a Holiday brochure in Spanish, the following are naking amazing progress with this: Avantika, Layla, Rowan, Oscar, Jack, Danielle, Courtney and Rowan.
Mrs Firmin has nominated Jack B who made an amazing looking lasagne – he made the tomato sauce, and the white sauce himself from scratch and layered it perfectly!

More Music Success!
Filip G in 7CO has passed his grade 3 Trinity College Rock and Pop Drum exam, and received a Distinction grading, which is the highest you can get. He took the exam early in the year, and only recently received his results. He has been learning the drums for four years as he started in year 3. He has online lessons twice a week and he says that he tries to practise every day. Filip said, ‘I like drumming and I hope it will become a future career of mine as it is fun.’ Well done, Filip, this shows real commitment to receive such an accolade and things are looking bright for your future in drumming.
