Mountain View Summer Learning Academy - student registration

Please complete the form linked below ONLY if you wish for your child to participate in the Mountain View Middle School Summer Learning Academy. Sessions will run during the following weeks (pending enrollment), Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: June 27, July 11, August 8. There is no cost to participate. Once all responses have been collected, you will receive a specific schedule for your child. If you have multiple children participating, please submit one form for each. Should you have questions, contact Mrs. Toth.

Announcements & Updates

- Attention 7th grade parents: The deadline to complete the Related Arts course request process via the Genesis Parent Portal is today. Students who have not made their selections will have a hold placed on their 3rd marking period report card.

- Sixth grade parents: Please check your email on Monday for information regarding the 22-23 Related Arts course request process. The portal will be open through Thursday, April 14.

- If your child is 14 years of age and planning to look for a summer job, please visit Ms. Walsh's website for information about how to apply for working papers. Please note that there are multiple steps involved in securing the right signatures in the appropriate order. Please contact Mrs. Marquard (marquard@mendhamboroschools.org) when you begin this process so we can assist you in securing your child's papers in a timely fashion.

A note from Ms. Walsh

Happy Friday Mountain View! I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring break. Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday night at our Social Emotional Regulation parent workshop at Hilltop. Kelly Canzone offered a great deal of insight on the impact that stress can have on individuals (especially parents!), as well as ways to acknowledge and work through stress that students may be experiencing. One of the best ways to help students when they are feeling stressed is to offer them support and open lines of communication. In times of stress, it is not uncommon for a child to have trouble labeling their feelings. Opening lines of communication can be done gradually and with daily check-ins and conversations. For example over the weekend, show your children that you value their input and opinion. Ask them to be a part of a decision: what to do for dinner or what plans to make for the family for the night? Get them engaged in whatever decision they make, have them help cook, or delegate responsibility to them. Feel free to reach out to let me know how it goes!
