Carlisle Library
February 2020
Dear Coyotes,
Boy oh boy was the library a buzzing place in January! We had Bee Bots and Blue Bots and Spheros buzzing and rolling all over the floor! If it sounds like I'm speaking another language, I kind of am...this is the language of coding. The Hour of Code in December was a lot of fun, but it didn't last very long. I wanted the kids to experience more aspects of coding in different ways. Kindergarten through 3rd grade used the Bee/Blue Bots and 4th and 5th graders used the Spheros. They had a really good time!
K-2 used the Bee/Blue Bots to learn about careers and community helpers. The 3rd graders used them to solidify ecosystem concepts they have been studying. The 4th and 5th graders were just learning how to control the Spheros...that wasn't an easy task.
I am looking forward to this month. Our 3rd-5th grade students who read 10 Bluebonnet Award books will be celebrating with an ice cream party. Furthermore, Engineering Week is coming up soon, and I can't wait to start thinking about projects for the kids to do.
I have the best job!
Regards,
Mrs. Hensley
