November is Picture Book Month
Celebrate the reading and writing of picture books!
Celebrate!
It's time to celebrate picture books. Picture books offer a great way for students to interact with texts. From an early age, many children engage with picture books while reading with parents, being read to by teachers, and reading them themselves. These books celebrate the art of visual literacy with wonderful words and stories.
Picture books are often the mentor texts we use in writing workshop. They offer great possibilities for writers to emulate. Picture books are often the format with which young writers are familiar.
These books are usually written at a higher level and beg to be read aloud.
So let's celebrate the beauty, humor, and art of picture books. Explore new titles and take a risk with your students.
