EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to this week's Educator of the Week, Ms. Denise Giandomenico. Ms. Giandomenico is currently working as the Team Chair & School Psychologist at the Governor Winslow School (GWS).
Mrs. Giandomenico joined the MPSD in 1998 as a School Psychologist/Adjustment Counselor. After working with students from across the District for 20 years, she retired in 2018. Soon thereafter she rejoined the District as a part-time Elementary Team Chair. Always the team player, Mrs. Giandomenico helped out the GWS by taking on the additional responsibility of part-time School Psychologist at the GWS this Fall. Needless to say, she has proven to be someone you can count on when you need any type of assistance.
Principal Hubbard was effusive in her praise of Mrs. Giandomenico. "Denise Giandomenico served as a kind and caring school psychologist at Governor Winslow School for many years. She recently tried to retire, but she missed the students and staff in Marshfield so much that she soon returned to GWS to serve as Team Chair. Her leadership of our special education team has been outstanding. This year, when we had difficulty hiring a school psychologist for a leave of absence, Mrs. Giandomenico offered her services for our students. She works tirelessly day and night to meet the needs of all students in her dual role. Mrs. Giandomenico lives by the Marshfield Public Schools mantra, "Every student. Every day. Whatever it takes." The Governor Winslow School community loves and appreciates her very much!"
Mrs. Giandomenico has done so much for the GWS and for the District over the years. We thank her for all of her efforts and congratulate her for being named our Educator of the Week!!
SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH SURVEY REMINDER
The Marshfield School Committee and the Superintendent Search Committee are underway with the search process to hire a new Superintendent for the Marshfield Public Schools, and they want to gather feedback from stakeholders across the District.
This is a simple reminder that you are encouraged to take a moment to fill out the survey at this link:
This survey is open to any parent/guardian, student, staff member, or Marshfield resident. Responses will be accepted until Friday, November 10, at which point they will be reviewed by the Search Committee.
MEF FALL GIVING CAMPAIGN
We Are Better Together.
The Marshfield Education Foundation (MEF) supports the Marshfield Public School District by providing critical seed funding for grants submitted by teachers for innovative programs that motivate and excite their students and achieve excellence in teaching and learning.
As we enter the season of giving, we hope you’ll consider supporting the Marshfield Education Foundation with a donation to our 4th Annual Fall Giving Campaign. Since 2010, the MEF has been able to fund over 200 grants reaching every school in the District. This would not be possible without generous donations from people like you, our community, and our local business sponsors.
Through the support of the Marshfield community, we have been able to support many innovative and creative programs in coding and robotics, reading and literacy, performing and visual arts, virtual reality and CAD design, physical fitness, and outdoor classrooms. Your donation and support directly impacts the students and teachers of the Marshfield community. Together, we can raise the necessary funds to be able to continue to fulfill our mission of providing innovative and creative programs to the classrooms.

HOMEWORK FREE VETERANS DAY WEEKEND
While we are still a month away, I wanted to let you know that once again, in honor of Veterans Day, the Marshfield Public Schools will be Homework Free over the Veterans Day weekend.
We started this tradition eight years ago and going “homework free”, in conjunction with Veterans Day has been greatly appreciated by students and staff, our families and, most importantly, our Veterans.
The district continues to focus attention on the social-emotional well-being of our students and staff, and by adjusting their homework schedule for Veterans Day, so that nothing is assigned over the Veterans Day weekend, we are making an impact on our educational stakeholders. Annually, the issue of homework is one that has generated discussion across the region and it has been reported to teachers and administrators that schedules and stress levels tend to grow as the year progresses. We hope that these homework free nights can help relieve some of that stress.
More importantly, each year we have used this time away from homework to allow our students and staff, and their families, to focus on the importance of recognizing Veterans Day. In lieu of homework, it is our hope that members of our school community, as they have done each year, will find the time on Veterans Day (or over the weekend) to thank a Veteran they may know for their service to our country. The person they reach out to could be a relative, a neighbor or a friend.
In addition, if members of our school community can attend the Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony on November 11th at Veterans Memorial Park, I know that the dedicated group of men and women, who have given so much to our country would greatly appreciate the gesture. As a district, we like to say “WeRMarshfield” and this simple gesture is just one more example of our community coming together to honor some very special people.
