What's Happening at Griffis

As we begin a new 2022 semester we would like to wish a very Happy New Year to our Griffis families! We also want to welcome our new students and families to Griffis. We trust you had a wonderful winter break with family and friends. We are excited and hopeful for this semester. This is when we see the most growth in our students and new goals accomplished. We look forward to our UIL Academic Competition on January 21st. Our students and coaches have been working hard to get ready for their events. We want to achieve our goal of continuing to bring home that championship trophy! We are proud of our students and staff for exceeding expectations first semester. We look forward to a great spring semester.

Our next scheduled Parent Lunch on the Lawn is Friday, January 7th!

Lunch times are listed below. You may bring food for your child or they can get a tray from the cafeteria. You may park in the front or back of Griffis and enter by the soccer fields. Please arrive early so that you have plenty of time to get settled in before your child’s lunch time. We are looking forward to seeing you!

If the weather does not permit, the lunch will not be rescheduled and will resume the next month.

Griffis PTO invites you to participate in the Hot Chocolate 1 Mile Run. The run will take place THIS Friday, 1/7 at 7:15 AM. The route will go through the Caddo Downs neighborhood located behind Griffis. Students, parents and community members are invited to participate. Each month, we will focus on a particular character trait. Mrs. Wygal will give daily announcements regarding that trait to help the students put it into action. At the end of the month, each teacher will pick a student from their class that they feel has best demonstrated that trait. Those students will be recognized as the Character Students of the Month. The trait for the month of January is self-control. Also, please see the monthly parent newsletter below.

Students not in the building by the 8:00 A.M. bell are considered tardy. Please refer to our campus handbook regarding our tardy policy. If your child is tardy, please do not drop your child off. For their safety, your child should be signed in. Please come to the front to sign them in.

New guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture allows all students to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost during the 2021 - 2022 school year.

With this announcement, CMISD will continue to process applications for the free breakfast and lunch program. This will ensure qualifying students will receive free lunch and breakfast during the first 30 days of the 2022 - 2023 school year. Applications will be sent home at the beginning of the school year and will also be available at each campus.

We want to show our appreciation for our WATCHDOGS that volunteered the month of September. Our students enjoy the time and high fives. Thank you for spending the day with us!
