January 19, 2024
Dear DMS Families,
It is hard to believe that we are heading into the last week of January. As we move into next week, I would like to remind you that Term II will end on Friday, January 26th. Please be sure to check your child's academic progress via Aspen Parent portal, and if you have any questions, reach out to the classroom teacher directly. Term II Report Cards will be available via Aspen Parent Portal on Friday, February 2nd.
Below you will find further information on DRRHS Rec Night for February 6th, as well as information on ordering a DMS yearbook, and lacrosse/baseball/softball registration. You will also find an opportunity for students to practice with the DR Lady Falcons, as well as see information on "Social Media Safety Tips for Kids."

Social Media Safety Tips for Kids
As parents and a school district, we do our best to protect our children in the digital world just as we do in the real world. This means open communication, setting clear expectations for online behavior, and implementing necessary safeguards. Please see the following resource regarding Social Media Safety Tips for Kids - NAESP.
In addition, steps we can collectively take are below:
Open communication: Let's create a safe space for our children to come to us with any questions or concerns about online content. Let them know we are here to listen and guide them through this complex landscape.
Family agreements: Develop ground rules for children's phone and social media use as a family unit. This can include age-appropriate screen time limits, responsible content-sharing guidelines, and open communication about online activity.
Technology and monitoring tools: Utilize parental controls and monitoring software to gain visibility into children's online activity and ensure their safety. Remember, this is not about spying, but protecting them from potential harm.
School and community outreach: Collaborate with our school administration and community organizations to raise awareness about this issue and educate children on responsible digital citizenship. We can organize workshops, parent-child discussions, and educational initiatives on online safety.

Student Chromebook Repairs
In the event that a chromebook is damaged, lost or not working, please submit a Technology Helpdesk Ticket. Once the technicians have confirmation of the ticket, they will provide the student with a temporary device to be used while the damage is evaluated. If the damage is seemingly accidental damage, the chromebook will be repaired at no cost to the student. If you have any questions, please reach out to the DMS Main Office.
