Principal's Message
Hello Hawk Parents!
I want to take this oppurtunity to thank all our Hawktastic parents! Thank you for your continued support as we work to get our Scholars achieving at high levels. . As you know, getting scholars to the Approaches level is no longer our goal. Our goal is to get ALL our Scholars to Meets and Masters levels and having our youngest scholars reading and doing math on grade level. Help support our goal by sending your child to tutoring and Friday Blitz if they are invited.
Exciting things are happening every day! Teachers are working very hard to plan and implement highly engaging lessons. Helps us by sending your scholars to school every day! Attendance matters.
We also need your support in ensuring scholars come to school every day in dress code. Many of our incentives are tied to free dress. Scholars are required to wear uniform pants/shorts (blue, khaki, black) and uniform polos (royal blue, white, old gold, maroon) or a Hambric spirit shirt every day. Scholars may wear jeans with a Hambric polo or spirit shirt on Fridays. Please make sure those jeans are not ripped or torn or have any holes. I thank you in advance for your support.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. My email is rtaylo@sisd.net. My office number is 937-4602.
Thank you!
Mrs. Taylor

Attendance Matters
Compulsory Attendance:
Compulsory attendance applies to students who are at least six years old as of September 1 of the applicable school year. The law requires a student to attend public school until the student’s 19th birthday, unless the student is exempt under §25.086.
- Applies to students below the age for compulsory attendance during any period that the student is voluntarily enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten.
- In addition, compulsory attendance applies to certain extended-year programs, tutorial classes, accelerated reading instruction programs, accelerated instruction programs, basic skills programs, and summer programs for students subject to certain disciplinary removals.
- Compulsory attendance is enforced through Chapter 65, Texas Family Code:
- A district shall notify a student’s parent if the student has been absent from school, without excuse on three days or parts of days within a four-week period.
If a student fails to attend school without excuse on ten or more days or parts of days within a six-month period in the same school year, a district shall within ten school days of the student’s tenth absence refer the student to a truancy court for truant conduct.
Be aware that only 6 days can be excused with a parent note for absences per semester. Notes should be submitted electronically to attendancejanehambric@sisd.net. Please include your child’s name, student ID, and grade. Loss of credit applies to both excused and unexcused absences. Please send your child to school consistently so that they are provided with the best opportunity to learn and socialize.
