Have you ever asked your student how his/her day was and you get one word answers? Use these questions to ask specific questions about the week and get him/her talking!

• SS7 - What is the purpose of the Great Wall of China?
• Science 6 - What is air pressure?
• Math 7 - What are two things you learned in math this week? (Possible answers: Distributive property, factoring an expression, simplifying)
• EAST - What did you learn from EAST Night Out?
• Science 7 - Explain the Law of Conservation of Mass.
• Keycode - What is a "string" in coding?
• ELA 6 - Name the parts of the Narrative diamond.
• Band - Can you play any of the Christmas songs your teacher posted in Google classroom?
• Acc. Math 7 - What have you learned about paying taxes and budgeting from your percent project?

• ELA 7 - How do you figure out a character's perspective?

• Art 7: Tell me about your printmaking project. What was the meaning behind your object?

• Stagecraft: What props are you working on for The Little Mermaid Jr. Musical?

• Math 6 - How do you find the greatest common factor and least common multiple of two numbers?

If your student is currently in the 6th grade and is interested in playing football next year as a 7th grader, please join us for a parent meeting in the Hellstern cafeteria. The meeting will be on Wednesday, December 14th at 6pm.

Below is a list of items that students can buy in our cafeteria along with their lunch. We are starting to see students purchase five or six items (especially cookies & chips) at lunch and then not have time to eat all of their food. We ask that students finish eating before going outside, which helps tremendously with trash outside.

If your student's lunch account is rapidly decreasing, you might check with them and put limits around what they are allowed to purchase in the "a la carte line".

Our PTO is providing snacks for both Hellstern Middle Schools students and our sister school, Sonora Middle School on December 20th. We will be doing a Hot Chocolate Bar for staffs in both schools that day also. Thank you all for donations to make this happen!

Every week we will be highlighting staff in our building. We have amazing people at Hellstern. We hope you enjoy learning about everyone that makes Hellstern a great school!
