Hero Happenings!

We MADE IT!! Can you believe it? I don't think any of us thought we would last more than two weeks, but here we are in the last week. I want to thank you all so much for all of your support and patience.

As you read through the newsletter, pay CLOSE ATTENTION to dates. We have had to change several field trips due to inclement weather. Cross your fingers for good weather next week!

There are links in this newsletter to sign up for next year's Hero Happenings AND the CJHS parent update "Central Connection". Please be sure and do this so you will continue to get information and updates from us!

We are raising money to send our NWA Champ and teacher sponsor to the National Amazing Shake challenge. Thanks in advance for your help!!

We did have a few extra yearbooks. They are $25. You can get them by bringing cash or check to Mrs. Taldo's room.

Please put it on your calendar! Locker day will be Sunday, August 8th from 1-3pm. This is a time when your child can:

• find his/her locker and practice the combination
• purchase Hellstern gear
• find out what team he/she is on
• meet some staff
• walk the building and familiarize yourself with it

We will have more info on this event published in July. Please mark your calendars now and be sure to sign up for next year's newsletter using the below link. This is CRITICAL to stay informed.

24 - Defenders, Chargers, Olympians, Legends field trips

24 - Springdale TIP students receive scores (10:30am)

25 - 7th grade field trip

26 - All Stars/Avengers Staycation

26 - Virtual awards ceremony @ 8am

26 - Best Variety Show EVAH (virtual audience/live performances - 1:30-3:15)

27 - 4th quarter ends/Last student day

AUGUST 8 - Locker Day (1-3pm)

The University of Arkansas's National Writing Project is offering a FREE 2-Week Writers Camp for current 4th-6th graders in Springdale Public Schools that will be held at Southwest Junior High June 7th-18th from 8:30-2:30 each day.

We will write, play games, make new friends, and participate in a variety of camp activities (competitions, making fun snacks, etc..). To sign up, complete this form or email Karen.Johnson@sdale.org. LIMITED spots available. Sign up by 5/17 to guarantee a spot.

Young Writers Camp for 7th- 10th graders at Lakeside.

The camp is tuition free. It begins June 7 and lasts until June 18 from 8:30-2:30 Monday- Friday. There is also free transportation provided by the district to and from the camp.

There will be competitions, snacks, and tons of exciting games both inside and outside.

Attached is a flyer/registration form for the camp. Parents can either register their students online through the Google Form or email jmcgee@sdale.org. Registration forms are due by May 17 at the latest.
