Turn It Up Nationals

Be sure to arrive two hours before your scheduled performance time, as times may vary. The event will be hosted at Ocean Place Resort 1 Ocean Blvd, Long Branch, NJ 07740. For the protection of dancers and their choreography Turn It Up Dance Challenge PROHIBITS any video recording or photography inside the performance venue EXCEPT during awards.

HOTEL GUESTS: If you are a hotel guest you will drive into the lot and take a ticket. Bring this ticket with you when you check in. Your hotel room key will now become your parking ticket. Parking is FREE for hotel guests. You can come in and out, using your room key, at your leisure.

NON-HOTEL GUESTS: Customers who are staying off property will be charged a fee of $10/day to park at the Ocean Place Resort. Every time they exit the lot and re-enter, they will be charged another $10. Bring your parking ticket to our merchandise table to receive a validation sticker that honors the $10 rate.

NEW THIS YEAR! The hotel is offering week long parking passes to non-hotel guests. It is $30 for a parking pass for the week. Non-hotel guests will take their parking ticket the first time they enter the lot and bring it to the front desk. They will pay the $30 and will receive a parking card that can be used to enter and exit the lot the entire week of Nationals.

There are public lots near the hotel that guests can park at if they don’t want to pay the hotel rate.

Arrive on time. Make Up & hair ready. Dancers should wear their warm up. Make a checklist to ensure you have all costume pieces. Dancers must warm up and stretch prior to competing. Dancers should stay together and cheer on their team.

Kidz, Juniors, and Seniors: Left side part low pony, completely slicked with NO fly aways! Wrap your hair around the ponytail holder, and straighten your ponytail with a flat iron.

Mini Company: Same as whole season!

*In order to assure dancers are stage ready we ask that once dancers are with an ICON teacher or director all parents leave the area. This allows teachers and directors time to prep the dancers and their routines.

*Parents are not permitted back stage at any time.

*Be mindful as you exit the performance area after an ICON dance competes. We want to be respectful of the other dancers competing.

*Do not speak to the competition staff all questions should be directed to Beth or Geo. *Awards....dancers should be well behaved during awards and remain seated on stage until they are completed

If any of the dances are selected to compete at The Battle it will be Friday. Please keep this in mind when planning your week. Attendance would be MANDATORY!

The Beach Bonfire Party will be held on Tuesday June 26th from 8:00PM-10:00PM. Join us on the beach for music, dancing, s’mores, and fun! This event is included and open to all registered dancers and their families! We would like all the ICON dancers to attend. We think it will be nice for ICON to attend this event together as a team.

Convention classes are included for all registered competitors. The convention will be held in the morning on the last day of Nationals, Friday, June 29, 2018. We will be offering 3 class levels; Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Dancers will have the opportunity to take 4 different classes from some amazing industry professionals. Dancers can stop by the merchandise table throughout the week to pick up a number if you plan to participate in convention. Directors, teachers, and parents will be able to observe the classes at no additional cost.

Turn It Up will be hosting a Spirit Day on Wednesday, June 27th. The theme for our Long Branch National Competition is SUPERHEROS! Our crew will select the most spirited studio to take over our Snap Chat account for a day! The winner will be announced at the last award ceremony on Wednesday the 27th. The winning studio will have access to our Snap Chat account on Thursday, June 28th. We will also be selecting our favorite “Most Spirited” Instagram post to receive a $20 merchandise voucher!
