LINES FROM THE LIBRARY
Our PreK-2nd grade students are participating in Global Read Aloud again this year! We have been enjoying Christian Robinson’s picture books in the library. Through these books, we have connected with each other and students all over the world via Padlet. It’s a fun way to show how books can connect us!
LIFE HAPPENS OUTSIDE
This year, the middle school students and staff at WCS will be participating in the Life Happens Outside Challenge! This contest is managed by Teens to Trails, a Maine non-profit whose mission is to connect youth to life-changing outdoor experiences. The challenge is designed to encourage schools to get their students outside more often, for learning, play and social growth. To participate, students simply track the amount of time they spend outdoors between Friday, Oct 21st and Friday, Oct 28th. Once the minutes are tallied, the 3 schools with the most amount of time will win $1,000! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO!
SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT
- This week we started up the Wildcat Express letter delivery program! Students and staff have the opportunity to write to and receive letters from anyone in the building! Letters are addressed and "mailed" in the blue wildcat express mailbox in the lower level of the Atrium. The mail is then collected and processed each Tuesday by Ms. Gibbs's Life Skills class. Letters are delivered to students at the end of the day. As a special incentive, anyone who writes a letter in the month of November will receive a coupon for an awesome pencil from Mrs. Pratt in the office!
- The PTA, in conjunction with the WCS Library and Art department, held a pumpkin decorating contest this month! Classrooms have been hard at work decorating pumpkins like book characters, and they are on display in the main lobby. A special thank you to the Mockingbird Bookshop, The Patten Free Library, and Representative Allison Hepler who helped to judge the contest. CLICK HERE to see all of the entries, and stay tuned for grade level winners who will be announced next week!
This is the place to get all your WCS-branded clothing and accessories.
