Vaccinations for Current Juniors/Rising Seniors
All rising seniors are required to show proof of vaccination prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year. The requirement is one dose of the meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY, Menactra, or Menveo) given at age 16 or older. Please note: Men B, Bexsero, and Trumenba are not the same as MenACWY.
The Student Council Association at John Champe High School will host our 1st Renaissance Festival on Friday, May 12th at the Champe Stadium. They're working hard to provide our students with an educational, fun, and exciting experience with activities, games, crafts, performances, and more. To make this event memorable and effective for our students we need your help. The SCA is asking if your business or family can make a donation or sponsor an activity at our festival. Your donation will be greatly appreciated and SCA will be sure to give you full recognition. Each company that sponsors an activity or makes a donation at the fair will have a yard sign placed next to your sponsored activity, a feature on our SCA website, and a notable plaque hung in our school during homecoming next school year. If your company can help with a donation or sponsorship, please email the SCA sponsors at scachampe@gmail.com. Please make checks payable to John Champe High School, attn: Champe SCA.

LLS Student Visionaries
This winter, Team Knight (led by Alyssa Gam, Bailey Monahan, and Keira Van Sanford), Team Cure Campaigners (led by Srija Doma), and Team Advance2Awareness (led by Janvi Sharma), dedicated countless hours in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year campaign, a seven-week philanthropic leadership program benefitting LLS’s mission of curing blood cancers.
The organization is pleased to share that the incredible teams representing JCHS, collectively raised nearly $22,000. In addition, this team, along with 78 other teams across the Mid-Atlantic Region, collectively raised over $4 million.
Congratulations to these teams of bright, compassionate, and dedicated students!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) recognizes May as Mental Health Awareness Month. This year's message is "More Than Enough," emphasizing that all people–with and without mental health challenges–are worthy of respect, inclusion, and care. Our school community strives to reduce the mental health stigma and provide education and resources to support everyone’s journey toward wellness.
Here are some suggestions on habits you create during the week to promote mental health wellness:
Mindful Monday: Maintain awareness of your thoughts and feelings–mentally and physically.
Tuneful Tuesday: Music can be a tool that helps boost our mood! We can also “tune” into the feelings of those around us.
Wellness Wednesday: Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits daily to attain better physical and mental health.
Mental Health Action Thursday: Take action to raise awareness about mental health by wearing green. Or, maybe your family chooses a color or something symbolic as a way to check in with each other.
Fun Friday: Prioritize the things that make you happy and fill and your cup.
