We've reached the end of what has been a wonderful Autumn Term and, looking back on the past 15 weeks, it's amazing how far we have moved as a school. This is down to the hard work of everyone involved and it makes me incredibly proud as the head at Appleton.

I've mentioned it below, but i'd like to make a special mention to the PTA team for their incredible support this year. School is a thriving and it's brilliant to see such a committed and enthusiastic group of individuals helping us to make primary school a wonderful experience for everyone.

I broke the news last week at Sherburn Hungate for Mrs Snowden but I'm delighted to inform you all that Mr Snowden is going to be a dad in 2024! I'm sure you will join me in congratulating them both on the exciting times ahead.

If you're a parent of a Reception child, you'll know that Miss Bingham has been working with us for the Autumn Term as a student teacher. She's training to be a teacher and is doing a super job! Unfortunately, it's time for her to move on to her next placement school, which just happens to be Sherburn Hungate. I'd like to thank her for all the hard work she has put in with the class. She will definitely be missed by the children and the staff team.

Our clubs offer for the first part of Spring Term will be:

Mr Broom - Guitar Club - Y5/6

Mrs Watts - Freddy Fingers Club - Reception

Mr Snowden - Computing Club - KS2

Miss Brough/Mr Crump - Podcast Club - KS1/KS2 (limited to 15 spaces)

Miss Roberts - Yoga - Y1/2 (limited to 10 spaces)

Mrs Bowman - Crafts and Needlework - Y1/2 (limited to 10 spaces) - Monday Evening

Club night will be on Tuesday evenings for the Spring Term 1 period.

If you've already booked your child's place and want to change it to one of the new clubs, please fill in the form again and we'll take the latest booking as the one your child wants to participate in.

On behalf of the entire staff team, we'd like to thank the PTA for all their hard work in 2023, making school that extra bit special for our fantastic children. We'd also like to thank all our families too, who have supported and contributed to the year.

A polite reminder that we have children in school who have severe nut allergies. Please ensure that you do not bring nuts on to the school site or include them in packed lunches.
