Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
Thank you for joining us in celebrating staff appreciation week! The demonstrations of support have been tremendous. We also look forward to celebrating you. Please join us on May 26, 2021, for Family Appreciation Day! Details are below. To all who celebrate it, Happy Mother's Day! Have an awesome weekend.
Thank you to everyone who attended the DCPS Planning Team's engagement on Thursday, to discuss the Foxhall and MacArthur properties and possible implications for the Hyde-Addison school community and the feeder pattern. Additional information will be shared, as applicable.
There are a few in-person seats still available in kindergarten and second grade. If your family is interested, please reach out to calvin.hooks@k12.dc.gov. As in-person seats become available in other grades, the office team will continue to contact families, to make those offers. Additionally, in-person connection opportunities have begun for students who are in a virtual posture. Please contact your classroom teacher for information.

2. Gather necessary supporting documentation for upload as needed:
- Proof of DC residency – see the Residency Form for a complete list of acceptable documents and verification methods
3. Complete the SY21-22 electronic submission enrollment packet.
DCPS Chancellor's Advisory Board
Applications are available in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Vietnamese and Amharic and the deadline to apply is May 14.
Topics addressed during the meetings may include, COVID-19 recovery, equity and race, school operations, attendance, mental health support, social-emotional learning, DCPS budget, special education, college and career programming, and more.

We Need Volunteers!
Interested in volunteering on the PTA? The Executive Board of the Hyde-Addison PTA is accepting nominations for the following positions:
· President;
· Vice President;
· Treasurer;
· Secretary;
· Vice President for Aftercare and Enrichment;
· Vice President for Communications;
· Vice President for Events;
· Vice President for Fundraising; and
· Vice President for Room Parent Engagement.
A candidate must be a parent or guardian of a student at Hyde-Addison Elementary School during the 2021-22 school year, and all terms are for 1 year.
Serving on the PTA is a wonderful way to give back to the Hyde-Addison community while reinforcing the core values of the school.
Nominations are due by, Sunday, May 16. Candidates will be announced the week beginning Monday, May 17, and the election will be held online the week beginning Monday, May 24 and close on Sunday, May 30. DCPS Planning Feedback
Thank you to those that were able to join the DCPS School Planning Team engagement on Thursday. (link to the meeting recording) We discussed the potential options for both the Foxhall and MacArthur sites which would impact the Wilson feeder pattern.

Information from Legendary Creators
Legendary Creators is a D.C. non-profit organization that provides pathways for young Creators, rising 4th – 6th grade student, to become entrepreneurs in the digital media field. Their programs provide early exposure to entrepreneurship and digital media for upper elementary and middle school students, while targeting 21st century skills. They will be hosting two virtual camps this summer. Here is a link to a video that details the program.
