Meet the Teacher

Welcome to 5th Grade! I am excited to be one of your student's 5th grade teacher this year for Reading and Science. This will be my 7th year teaching 5th grade at Wilkesboro Elementary with most of my experience being in 5th Grade!!

I grew up in Wilkesboro, and I graduated from Wilkes Central High School and went on to continue my education at Appalachian State University!

At home, I live with my husband Dylan. We celebrated 5 years of marriage in March!! We have two dogs, Lucy and Ashe! I love to spend time with my family, especially my nephew, Beckett and my new niece, Flora.

Outside of teaching, our favorite thing to do is travel and try new restaurants. I would definitely describe us as "foodies". I love to play soccer and I travel to Boone to play in an adult league twice a week! I addition, I love hiking, walking, working out, mountain biking, going to Appalachian football games, and hanging out with friends.

This will look differently than it may have looked in the past for your student. This year, we are preparing your student for middle school by switching classes for Reading and Math! Your student will start with their homeroom teacher and switch classes for the other content area. See the below for your child's schedule:

5 composition notebooks (wide ruled, not spiral)

4 Two pocket folders

Pencil pouch for supplies

4 packs of #2 pencils (Ticonderoga preferred)

2 packs of index cards

1 pack highlighters

1 pack glue sticks

1 pair scissors

4 packs dry erase markers

I believe open and honest communication is extremely important to the educational success of any student. I will post most frequently on Class Dojo, usually about the day-to-day activities of our class and very important events. I will also keep our Smore Newsletter updated as often as needed. This will include a monthly overview of lessons, our class calendar, as well as school-wide special events. I will also offer opportunities to schedule either in-person or phone conferences periodically throughout the school year.

My preferred communication hours are Monday-Friday, from 7:25am-4:00pm. Any messages received outside of those hours will be answered as soon as possible the next school day.

The best way to contact me is through Class Dojo. We can set up a time for a conference or call through that avenue. If you need another method, here are some other ways to contact me!
