Girls Made with Code Opportunity - Taught by Mrs. Tinguely

Join a passionate girl coder and be ready to learn, design, and create with other girls who code! Coding and computing skills are some of the most sought after skills in today’s job market. So much so that the jobs are growing much more quickly than those with the knowledge to fill the jobs. Get comfortable achieving in this growing field, where the workforce needs and wants more women! Learn to problem solve and think like a computer scientist. CS First materials and Scratch, a programming language perfect for beginning to intermediate coders, will be used to learn an introduction to code. Sign up here!

Noteworthy Resources at the Public Library

Did you know our Scott County Library has online resources that are amazing? Here are two of my favorites:

NoveList K-8: Helps kids locate age-appropriate books, look up series orders and search for books by topic. Also gives Lexile levels for each title.

BookFlix: Engaging video storybooks paired with nonfiction books, activities and games to help kids (Pre K-3) develop and practice reading skills and knowledge.

To access these sites be sure you have your online account with password set up at the public library. Happy Reading!

Common Sense Education

We have been working hard on learning about our responsibility as a kind and respectful digital citizen. Common Sense Education has some amazing resources to help parents navigate the world of technology for children of all ages. Check out their website here: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/

Read All About It Updates

"The media center has been busy during the read-a-thon, as it is the headquarters for K.I.N.D. TV studios! Make sure to keep an eye out for the weekly newscasts, or check out the Jeffers Pond PTC page on Facebook for all of the campaign updates.

In addition to reading and fundraising, students have been encouraged to show kindness to one another during the read-a-thon. To launch the campaign back on Oct. 24, each grade chose a different book to read that centered around the theme of kindness.
