Park Ranger Jenn Menge from Dinosaur Valley State Park will bring the past to life as we discuss Texas during the time of the dinosaurs. We will learn about dinosaurs that once roamed Texas by studying the tracks they left behind. We will all become paleontologists as we use these tracks to retell a story millions of years old.

Behind the Scenes of the Nutcracker

Students will see the preparation that must happen before a performance of the Nutcracker by Texas Ballet Theater at Bass Performance Hall. Students will meet a ballet dancer, see dancers warming up and going through barre in the background, see props and costumes up close and learn about all the other people involved that they never see--behind the scenes.

Meet the nine-banded armadillo and the striped skunk. Although their defense behaviors and adaptations benefit them in their wild environment, these same behaviors do not fare well in urban habitats. Most people cannot help but turn up their noses when they think about these two animals, but after our class you will understand the ecological benefit of these fascinating wildlife species. Join us as we clear up some common untruths and add clarity to their unique body structures and their functions with the help of our friendly guest stars.

ASI: Animal Skull Investigation

This interactive presentation allows students the opportunity to investigate skulls of native Texas animals. Unique adaptations will be discussed and students will be asked to identify common structures of animal skulls and then determine their function(s).
