Kindergarten
Students will be able to explain what it means to have a career in public service
Extending the Learning at Home: Ask your student to answer the following questions:
a. What are jobs that help us in our community?
b. Would you want a public service job? Why or why not??
1st Grade
Students will be able to explain what it means to have a career in creative work
Extending the Learning at Home: Rehearse and perform a creative show for your family. You may decide to sing, dance, read or tell a story, put on a play or puppet show with stuffed animals or anything you would like to do that uses your creativity. Get others to help you perform if you like. Tell your audience you are learning about careers in creative work.
2nd Grade
Students will learn about careers working with animals and will be able to align interest and skills to this particular career
Extending the Learning at Home: Ask your student to explain today's lesson. Ask them if they are interested in a career working with animals. Why or why not?
3rd & 4th Grade
Students will connect what they are learning in school to related opportunities outside of school, like hobbies and chores, Students will identify careers that use their favorite school subject on the job
Extending the Learning at Home: Complete this short activity on the connection between school classes and jobs.
5th Grade
Students will learn about their work-related skills
Extending the Learning at Home: Have your student explain today's activity which focuses on skills.Talk with your student about 2-3 work related skills they have.

Local Postsecondary Training Option
Harrisburg Area Community College offers a certificate and associates degree in Paralegal Studies. Other regional colleges like Widener University and Central Penn College also offer associates degrees in the subject.
