Principal's Message

Good Morning Educating Partners,

Our fabulous staff enjoyed welcoming our Hornets after a long summer break. Thanks for your support; these first few days of instruction were successful. Friendly reminder that classes start at 8:00 am. We want to keep our students safe, so please drop them off on the sidewalks and avoid the middle of the streets. We have three gates for students to enter and exit our campus: Main Gate, Carty Park and C Street Gate. The students are dismissed at 2:30 pm daily except for Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. Thank you for keeping your student safe at all times and for picking up your student on time.

The GREEN staff appreciates that you're teaching your student to be responsible and to wear the uniform according to the school's expectations; it prevents you from receiving phone calls to bring a uniform change to school. You are always welcome to visit our student expectations information on our website. You may also access the link below with the student expectations https://green.hueneme.org/. Friendly reminder that all parents/guardians and students had an opportunity to review the expectations during the student orientation days, signed the compact and received a hard copy. The guideline for students to be successful will also be reviewed during the Student Expectations Assemblies in September: 9/8, 9/9, 9/15 and 9/16.

For your future planning, below are the dates for the school year that your student will have early dismissal at 1:00 pm due to staff professional development, planning and collaboration on 09/23, 10/07, 11/18, 02/03, 03/10, 03/24, 04/21, 05/05, 05/26/2023. You will receive a notification if a date changes.

Have a great three-day weekend; happy Labor Day! Classes resume on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Student Guidelines for Success

Knowing what you need to do is the first step in being successful on campus. If you were able to attend orientation the week before school started, you were able to view the orientation presentation that included the Green JHS Guidelines for Success. Please bring your school-issued device charged and ready to go each day.

Also, please remember that school-issued devices are monitored at all times for inappropriate use. Please continue to discuss digital citizenship at home and use school-issued devices only for assigned coursework and school-related activities.

On June 30, 2022, The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued the COVID-19 Public Health Guidance for K–12 Schools to Support Safe In-Person Learning, 2022–2023 School Year.

COVID Symptom Reminder and Return to School Requirements

As a reminder, at no time is it acceptable to send students to school when they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and especially if they have received a positive test result (laboratory based OR at-home test). Please make sure to report all positive cases to your students’ school.

Temperature Screening: Please screen your child at home each day for fever or symptoms and do not send your child to school if he/she is symptomatic or sick.

Students are to stay HOME if:

-If your student does not feel well, keep them home.

-If your student has any COVID-like symptoms, keep them home.

Home tests or antigen tests are now accepted

-Thank you for keeping our school community safe.

Tdap Immunization:

For those 7th grade students that still need their Tdap immunization. VCPH Clinics at 2500 C Street and 2240 E. Gonzales Rd both have free Tdap doses available while supplies last. This is a special arrangement. Students can receive the free Tdap regardless of insurance status. No appointment is needed. The clinics take the last patient at 4:30 pm and are closed for lunch 12p-1pm.
