Connect2Texas - Virtual Content Enrichment Programs
The Petroleum Museum is pleased to offer distance learning outreach programs to schools across the nation. In conjunction with Connect2Texas, the Petroleum Museum is bringing interactive programs into classrooms! Topics include live animals, geology, and dinosaurs. Each 30-45 minute program is packed with interactive engagement and learning and are all TEKS-aligned. National standard alignment is available upon request.

PROGRAM OPTIONS
Creature Feature
Grades: Prek-6
This engaging program is designed for students in PreK through sixth grade. Students will learn about the Museum’s live animal collection up close while also learning about important science concepts such as adaptations, ecosystems, food chains, animal classifications, and much more. Animals featured include a prairie dog, bearded dragon, snakes, rabbits, and more. Includes a 40-minute interactive program with a PBPM museum educator and materials mailed for three post-program extension activities.
Dinos 101
Grades: Prek-2
Students in grades PreK through second will journey back in time to learn about the various species of dinosaurs that lived during the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous time periods including those that lived in the area now known as Texas. Dig into topics including fossils, trace evidence, geology, carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and more! Includes a 40-minute interactive program with a PBPM museum educator and materials mailed for three post-program extension activities.
Fueled By Science: Energy
Grades: K-6
Geared for Kindergarten through sixth-grade students, this interactive program fuels students' insights into the world of energy, conservation of energy, real-world examples of energy, and more. This program can be tailored to fit the needs of your classroom. Includes a 40-minute interactive program with a PBPM museum educator and materials mailed for three post-program extension activities.
Fueled By Science: Fossil Fuels
Grades: K-6
Geared for Kindergarten through sixth-grade students, this interactive program explores the energy around us that is powered by fossil fuels. Students explore how essential fossil fuels are to maintain our civilization and culture. Students will cover all the different ways fossil fuels are used in our everyday life. This program can be tailored to fit the needs of your classroom. Includes a 40-minute interactive program with a PBPM museum educator and materials mailed for three post-program extension activities.
Rocks Rock!
Grades:3-6
Geared for third through sixth-grade students, this interactive program sets a geological foundation for students by covering key concepts such as layers of the earth, the rock cycle, fossil fuel formation, and more. Students learn about the history of the Permian Basin from a geological standpoint. This program can be tailored to fit the needs of your classroom. Includes a 40-minute interactive program with a PBPM museum educator and materials mailed for three post-program extension activities.

Welcome to the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum. Founded in 1975 by over 500 community leaders under the leadership of George T. Abell, the Museum tells the story of petroleum and the rugged lives of men and women who sought a better life.
What started as a community dream has, over time, become the nation’s largest museum dedicated to the petroleum industry and its pioneers. The Petroleum Museum has welcomed over one million visitors worldwide. It shares the petroleum and energy story and its impact on our daily lives through educational programs, interactive exhibits, an archives center and its Petroleum Hall of Fame.
A visit to the Petroleum Museum is an amazing journey through over 230 million years of history. Located in the heart of the Permian Basin, the Petroleum Museum offers over 40,000 square feet of interactive education and entertainment for adventurers of all ages. The mission of the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum is to share the petroleum and energy story and its impact on our lives.
