Today we visited The Candy Factory in downtown Columbia. This field trip will support our economics unit which we will start after spring break. It was a fabulous opportunity to see a local business and discuss the production process, plus we got a tasty treat!

This week we started our study of fractions. We have reviewed how to represent fractions and some of the foundation concepts. We created fraction museums, used cuisenaire rods, and discussed a variety of situations that contain fractions. Next week we will focus on equivalent fractions and combinations that equal one whole. Please talk to your child about fractions at home.

This week we crossed the Platte river, entertained ourselves at Chimney Rock and stocked up on supplies at Fort Laramie. Each wagon has experienced personalized tasks and fates. Our goal is to reach Oregon before Spring Break... wish us luck!
