A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougar Nation,
It's the first week of April, and we have a lot of big news and many wonderful celebrations.
Today is National School Librarian Day. Our librarians are terrific educators who show students the value of reading and creativity. Remember to thank them when you see them. It's also National Assistant Principals Week. We honor our Assistant Principals for their contributions to our student's academic success as well as the leadership and support they provide our staff. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to Jarrell ISD. We're a better school district because of you. Finally, April 6th is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. Our paraprofessionals play such an important role in classroom instruction. They are a vital resource, and we appreciate them today and year-round.
This week, some big news is that our Board of Trustees has appointed Dave Lovelace as the new Place 4 Trustee. Mr. Lovelace is a retired businessman who has lived in Sun City for 16 years. He and his wife are very active in the Sun City Kiwanis Club, where they visit Jarrell High School students in the Key Club, teaching them leadership skills. Mr. Lovelace replaces Kenneth Leverett, who resigned in December due to health issues. We posted more information below about Mr. Lovelace. Let's give him a warm Cougar welcome.
Finally, the 2021 fourth quarter demographer's report is complete. It details stunning growth in Jarrell. Based on the current trend, enrollment will be more than 4,300 students for the 23-24 school year. That's sixteen hundred more students than now. The full report is attached below.
Exciting times are ahead!
Your proud superintendent,
Dr. Toni Hicks Ed.D.
