So Many Interesting Things Online!

While this is a difficult time, there are a few wonderful things I want to share with our students that the online literacy & learning communities are doing while so many schools are closed. These activities are to enhance your child’s sense of exploration and tap into their love of learning. These are not assignments, unless your child’s teacher decides to use them in lessons given in the weeks ahead. It is my hope that this week, our Blessed Bulldogs will be taking advantage of the gift of time, tapping into their love of learning, and discovering new interests and ways of expressing their creativity. I believe some of these resources might help. You and your families are in my prayers, and I look forward to seeing you all again!

Debbie Ridpath Ohi Inspires with a Daily Challenge

Illustrator of Bulldog favorites The I'm Books (I'm Bored, I'm Sad, and I'm Worried), Debbie Ohi will create a new video on her YouTube channel, featuring various artistic techniques. Then she will give her viewers a challenge, and with your permission, students can share their work with her by uploading pictures with the hashtag #ArtForDebbieOhi on Twitter.

Author & Illustrator Visits with Ben Clanton!

Students can watch Ben Clanton, author of the Narwhal & Jelly series, go live on his Facebook page to answer questions and demonstrate his process on Wednesday at 1pm and Friday at 4pm. *Hopefully Clanton's virtual visits will be accessible afterwards.

Jarrett J. Krosoczka Visits on YouTube, Weekdays at 1pm CST

Author and illustrator, Jarrett J. Krosoczka will be drawing & reaching out to students weekdays at 1pm. He has created many wonderful picture books, and one of the Bulldog favorites, the Lunch Lady series.

The Santat Online Survival School For The Pandemic

Beginning Tuesday, Mar. 17, Dan Santat will be reaching out to students and parents through his Instagram and Twitter accounts (@dsantat). The illustrator of The Princess & the Pit Stop, and Ninja Red Riding Hood, and author and illustrator of Bulldog favorites like Beekle, The Cookie Fiasco, and After the Fall, hopes to help with anxiety by offering this. "Earn badges. Learn skills. Don't panic!"

Podcast with Grace Lin & featured authors

Grace Lin, author of Caldecott Honor book A Big Mooncake for Little Star, will do 5-10 min podcasts with various authors where they will answer a question that a child submits. Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems at Noon on Weekdays

Mo Willems, writer and illustrator of the Pigeon books and the Elephant and Piggie series, will share some of his techniques and talk about his process, answer submitted questions, and show us around his studio. He will be featured live at https://www.kennedy-center.org/education/mo-willems/
