The purpose of the Pyramid Program is to support students through the use of specially designed instruction with daily behavioral, self-regulation, mental health, and academic needs. The Pyramid Program provides a small group setting with high staff to student ratio in an environment working towards grade-level curricular standards with opportunities for inclusion with non-disabled peers.

Lewistown hosts 4 Pyramid classrooms. Each Pyramid classroom includes one certified special education teacher and 3 special education instructional assistants. The program includes a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA), a Special Education Cordinator and two licensed therapists.

Frederick County Public Schools is excited to be administering the CogAT to all students currently enrolled in Grades 2 and 5, as well as those students who are in Grades 3 and 4 and do not have a score.

The CogAT provides information about a student's abstract thinking and reasoning skills. The CogAT administration wndow is from November 6th - November 10th. The results of this assessment will be complied into a student report that is enclosed with the Term 2 report card. Scores on the CogAT will have no impact on students' grades. The results of the CogAT will be one piece of data that schools review as they look at multiple criteria to determine academic programming for students.

Fifth grade just finished our science unit on energy and matter. We observed our plants grow, hosted anoles for 3 weeks in our habits, and explored owl pellets!
