Principal's Message...
Hi Sierra Families,
Today was our SkyDome Assembly! Ask your child about it and what they learned about the Solar System. It was not only entertaining, but educational as well-the students thoroughly enjoyed it.
As a reminder-the front of the school is STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not drop children off or pick them up (unless they attend Extended Day). If someone else is helping with your child's transportation, please help relay this message to them. Thank you!
Enjoy another long weekend,
Reagan Phillips

Library News
Hello Dragons
We are chugging along in our California Young Reader Medal book program. We have read three of the five books and have two more clues to go along with those stories. Last week we read Negative Cat written by Sophie Blackhall about a boy that has been asking his parents for a cat for over 400 days! Finally his parents say yes and take him to a shelter to pick out one cat. After finding a cat and naming him Max, he finds out that his cat is not interested in anything he is giving to him. All Max likes to do is stare at the wall. His parents call the shelter lady to take him back to the shelter. Worried that Max was going back to the shelter they hid in his room. As he opens a book and reads, Max actually comes to the little boy and sits with him. The shelter lady asks them to come read to the cats at the shelter, eventually his whole class starts reading books at the shelter and all are happy. Our third book in the CYRM program was Someone Builds the Dream written by Lisa Wheeler and illustrated by Loren Long. This was a wonderful book about the process it takes for things to be made. People have a thought and put it on paper or on a computer. There are many workers involved in building the dream that was first created in someone's mind. Like a book, there is an author that writes the story, the illustrator that draws the pictures, the people at the publishing company that print out the words and pictures on sheets of paper then bind it together to create a book. All around us, there are many people that build the dream. Two more books for our CYRM and then we will vote for our favorite book! Remember, good things happen when you READ!
