Treasurer Report
Chris D.
A note on expenditures
As we transition into our new team based structure, we are starting with a blank slate. All upcoming purchases will need to be approved by the Lead Team.
If an expenditure was previously approved by the Board, it will need to be re-approved by the Lead Team. Doing so will ease the transition and avoid an accidental overuse of limited funds.
How does the approval process work? Easy!
Submit your request to any of the Team Members listed at the bottom of the newsletter or email directly to stmvgm@gmail.com. Once the request is received, the treasurer will be consulted to determine if funds are available. If so, an email will be sent to all team members to allow them to vote on the expense. The newsletter chair does not vote and remains neutral to tally and keep record of votes.

Soil Report
Marco M.
If anyone is curious about the newly germinating plants they are the rise of the winter cover crop. The cover crop is a mix of white clover, crimson clover, hairy vetch, dundale peas, and green lentils.
- The cover crop is a cheap soil builder, nitrogen fixing, erosion control, weed crowder, biomass infuser, introduces biodiversity, encourages pollinators and beneficial predator insects. The cover will be watered and monitored in order to mow before seeding and left to grow until the second mow.
- The roots will remain resulting in keeping the soil microbes alive. The dead cover crop roots will provide channels for water migration.
- A layer of the leaf mulch will follow which will further add to the biomass and inhibit weed germination and preserve moisture.
- We will attempt (pending supplies) to cover all roads/pathways with wood chips. If anyone knows a landscaper that chips wood send them our way.
Keep the Leaves Coming :)
**We are also in need of clean grass clippings....these will help break down the compost**
