Pride in Self, Pride in Community, Pride in Learning
Thank you to everyone who attended Family Literacy Night!
Jennifer Kempker, University Of Missouri Extension Specialist came to the 7th grade Intro. to Ag class to do a presentation on 4-H. She taught the students how to make motions in a meeting by having them make a "motion potion." First, students were to make a motion to put certain items in a trail mix. Second they had to have a discussion over why they should or should not add that item, and finally do a majority-ruled vote. The students loved this activity, and really enjoyed the final trail mix they created!
6th grade students completed an edible cell model. They could either do a plant or animal cell. They had to label and present their creation to the class. We had several cakes, a couple of brownies, jello, and a pizza to represent the cells! Needless to say, the students really enjoyed science last week!
Mr. Isom's STEM class built and tested soapbox derby cars--a good trial-and-error learning experience!

Dear Parents and Community Members,
Happy Monday! I don’t know about you, but I am loving the cooler weather today! I’m ready to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall.
The K-8 discount card fundraiser is in full swing. The order form and money are due on Wednesday, October 11. Please have students give the orders and money to their teacher. In addition to the K-8 discount card fundraiser, students are also selling popcorn! If you haven’t seen the popcorn information from your student yet, please ask them about it.
Parent/teacher conferences are coming up on October 19. This will be an early release day for students. Teachers should be reaching out to you soon with more information about sign up times. Stay tuned for more info.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out. My door is always open and I am always willing to help however I can. Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Kyla Kirtley
Principal
