Important Enrollment and Lottery Information for 2023-24 School Year
For parents of Kindergarten - 7th grade students:
Students enrolled at Galileo who want to keep their seat for the 2023-2024 school year must fill out the Intent to Continue form by the January 13th deadline. This form is in your parent PowerSchool account and must be completed individually for each student. Failure to complete the form by the deadline will result in your student losing their spot at Galileo. If you need help with your username or password, please contact the office.
If you are not sure if you have completed the form, please check your parent PowerSchool account. If the Intent to Continue form is in the "Available Forms" section, it has not been completed. (See image below.) If it is shown under the "Completed Forms" section, it has been successfully submitted for your student.
We realize that over time family situations change, and that Galileo might not be the best option for your family. If that is the case, you should still complete the Intent to Continue form for your student. It will have you indicate where your student will be attending instead so we can help you get through that process.
For parents of 8th grade students:
In preparation for the transition to high school next year, the district pulled the address from your PowerSchool account, and your student has now been assigned in the computer to their boundary high school. If you are not sure which school that is, you can use the Boundary Map locator, found here. If you want to apply for your student to attend a different West Ada high school, please check out the Enrollment page, where you can find the In-District Transfer application and information about the process. (Please note, the application is only available until February 1, 2023.) If your student is planning to attend a school not in West Ada, please notify the office.
Lottery Application
Any student NOT currently enrolled at Galileo seeking enrollment for next school year must fill out a lottery application. For instance, an older sibling who did not get in this year or an incoming Kindergarten student. That online form will be available on the website January 4-31, 2023. (Note: If you are applying for an incoming Kindergarten student, they must have been born before 9/1/2018 to qualify for enrollment.)

Counseling Department
Galileo STEM Academy offers small group support for our students. Small groups (3-6 students) provide not only the opportunity for additional learning experiences, but also a time of sharing and growing together with fellow students. Small groups give the students a chance to belong, express themselves, and benefit from the support of group members.
Groups meet for 30 minutes once a week for 6 weeks during the school day and will start in January. The times for the groups are coordinated with the classroom teacher so that students are not missing core instruction time. Students also are not pulled for groups during Specials like P.E., Music, Library, Health, or Computers. Middle school students are pulled from a different class each session to not miss the same class.
The following student groups are offered:
- Confident Kids: This group focuses on building resiliency and self-esteem. Skills topics included; self-image, creating a Growth Mindset, coping skills for when things get hard, recognizing body cues, social skills, and positive affirmations.
- Coping Skills: This group is intended to improve a student’s ability to cope with anger, anxiety and worries. Students will explore the triggers of their anger, anxiety and/or worries and then work on skills to handle those triggers. The group will review Zones of Regulation strategies.
- Friendship/Peer Connections: This group will emphasize strengthening a student’s ability to focus on fair and realistic thinking, express oneself appropriately, recognize cues, and use empathy for positive peer interactions. Skill topics covered will include; empathy, listening, friendships, social awareness, attitude, and fairness.
- Grief: This group will focus on students needing support with the loss of a loved one. Through this group, students will explore strategies for dealing with their feelings and have a safe space to share stories.
- My Family: This group will focus on students needing support with changing family dynamics. This could be families going through a divorce (past or present), adoption, new siblings, living with other family members, etc.
- School Success: This group will focus on ways to show POWER in our everyday life. (Perseverance, Ownership, Wonder, Envision, Reflection). We will be working on ways to strengthen coping, social and study skills needed for success in the school day. Topics will include; resiliency, organizational skills, and using Zones of Regulation for coping. Social skills, such as positive attitudes, forming friendships, appropriate play, and peer pressure will also be explored.
Parent permission is required for a student to participate in the group. If you would like your student to participate in a small group(s), please complete the following form by Tuesday, December 20th https://forms.office.com/r/xkGEbvTT1X.
